could not believe my ears on the way home in the car on friday night, listening to radio sheffield every grunter that rang in was happy that they had lost 3-2 because they had played superior football ! from where i was sat they were awful in the first half, are they forgetting they had alan wiley and the idiot linesman on john st helping them, perhaps they felt sorry for the pigs as the third goal went in,and what about the crap finishing in front of goal,o,conner should have been red carded when he took 2 of our players out in quick sucession.or were these grunters seeing everything thing through blue tinted glasses. i suggest these fans get a dvd of the game and see how much help they actuually got from the officials

Yeah I can see why atleast they put up a fight at 3-0 down rather than wave a white flag and give in.

Which is more than can be said from our pathetic performances against them last season.

The had a crap defence. Frankly - even though we won, they pass the ball around and to feet. And they have the mark of a good team, players run towards the ball when they are in possession.

BUT - I cannot complain about Blackwell's track record. And when the style of footall works it is great. But show me a top team that plays like that.

Squealing

I have listened to the response since Friday from our truffle hunting neighbours and cannot believe their continued arrogance.

Yes the second half was stressful on the night (probably because we are Blades and know we have the capacity to blow it) but having watched the whole match on TV over the weekend I think alot of the pundits and the piggies got it wrong. Their mistake was to confuse possesion with end product and in the cold light of day they had a 15 - 20 minute spell where we have to admit they scored 2 great goals, but other than that never really looked like hurting us.

All we hear is squealing about us being a long ball team, well I disagree, we use the flanks well with the likes of Ward and Tracey, but can also mix it up. As a football fan I like Mark Bunn after years of Paddy it is refreshing seeing the quality of distribution he offers us.

The overall summary was clear in the result, one team will be in the hunt for promotion, whilst Wednesday will continue to be a midtable team despite the bluff and spin of chairman strapon. (funny we didn't see him trying to HOG the limelight as usual on Friday did we)

You didn't see him Hogging the limelight as he is busy working hard on another lost at sea anal ogy!

bless the piggy two hats ......... i hope they stay happy and get beat 3-2 every game.

....but we aren't a top team, yet. United, Watford and Stoke have recently proved that a more direct style has merit if your intention is to exit this league. And Stoke continue to flourish with it. I'd be happy to save the brazillian stuff until we're challenging ManUre. Mind you, we do need to work on our composure when we're under pressure. That's whan all "style" goes out of the window.

Now this does make me laugh. No matter what they say they did not play the superior football. Yes it looked pretty but football is about goals and points. Superior football means you score more than the opposition.

So the little piggy winkles can take that statement and insert it into their rectum, sideways, and deal with it :)

Well, ok, if they are happy with that then , as Blades we should be happy that everyone went away with a smile, and if it suits them carry on losing!

i couldn't give a rats tush about anything that comes from the blue side of Sheffield, because i'm from the Red and proud to be. They lost so they need to deal and squeal all the way home again!!

And if the final whistle hadn't blown we could still be watching them passing the ball around to feet now, and still waiting for them to put a decent ball into the box.

Could it be that they looked good on the ball because our lads were happy to let them pass it around in front of them all night as we were winning, and they were doing absolutely no damage other than eating up the clock with their pretty, but totally ineffective football?

Not quite how Billy Davies described their style of play

"In the second half I thought we created enough to win the match, but it's very difficult to play against that long-ball game. They were bashing balls forward constantly. Their keeper kicks the ball a mile and it's difficult to play the type of game we're trying to play against that type of game, but we competed well."

Ah but that was a different game ;-)

I'm only commenting on what I saw at BDTBL and again on the rerun when I watched it the following day.

To be fair it wasn't until I saw the rerun that I realised just how comfortable we actually were.

I think nerves and natural pessimism worried me more than they should have on Friday.

Obviously the piggies blind loyalty and natural optimism had exactly the opposite effect on them.

Totally agree, we restricted them to long shots, they got naff all in the box. Their goals came from a long range speculative and a very good freekick.

I don't think they were playing neat passing football.
