Funnily enough there is a thread on Owlstalk saying they should boycott it because it's biased towards us.

The real problem is it's on too many times a week so you just get the same old caller's. Praise or grumble is good because you get people phoning up to let off steam straight after a game.

This is exactly the problem. The fact that the other lot are equally enraged by a perceived bias probably suggests no such thing exists. The issues are the frequency it’s on (great if there’s something that happens on the day worth discussing, awful every other time) and quality of callers (exacerbated by the frequency).

A lot of people pointed out that Blades "Don't call FH anymore" as a criticism due to us doing well and Blades only call to complain. We Blades don't like to phone in just to say how great we are, we are just not used to it. We may call in to state how good CW is in one way or another but we don't wake up every morning wanting to big ourselves up because we are higher than our local rivals. It is hurting the porcine so much that they are not above us lording it over us, as that's their thing. So they are grumbling. People tend to call more with a gripe than with a positive comment unless they are regulars. So therefore I think Blades call in less these days as they are content. The exception is Brian the Blade who just loves the notoriety and local fame so has to say outlandish stuff to remain on the air. Calling for Wilder's head for not playing Brooks week in week out for example.

I stopped listening years ago but for what its worth they should just have a phone in on a Saturday and maybe one during the week to allow for a more sober (ha) reflection on the weekend games, mid week games and over anything that's happened (transfers, board room comings and goings, players sent to prison etc).

5 times a week is pointless and ends up making celebrities out of the afore mentioned callers, but I suppose its an easy way to fill air time.

After a match there is something to actually discuss (even though you get some prize dicks doing so), the other 5 nights a week there is, usually, fuck all of any note happened. You can't make stuff interesting when nowt has happened.

I don't think there is a difference between P&G and FH other than the time it's on and P&G is just after a match. It is the same callers and similar things discussed.

heard anything from 6 to 12m. Fact is we won't ever know the real figure. £8m does seem to be the favourite figure though, and paying it in 3 instalments. Only another £5.32million to find, and with them being so close to a FFP embargo, moving him on won't be a option for accountancy reasons.

if you buy the sun, mirror, express, mail or whatever is your poison, the back 3 or 4 pages take about 20 mins tops to read.
that's national coverage of teams, matches, Europe wide etc, covered by many journalists, how can a local phone in with about 3 presenters fill an hour?
simple, get some knob with self inflated egos to dial in and be controversial.
it's a cross between talk sport and big brother, on a fiver budget.

Agree. Even Talksport struggles to fill the air time and that covers other sports and all football. Listening to Durham trying to drum up phone calls by talking absolute shite can be so painfully embarrassing I have to turn it off.
