Phil Thompson watched today's game at Southend for Gillette Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports News, after the game they speak about the teams they watched and this is a summary of what Phil Thompson said about our game.

  • 3 at the back, all good quick strong defenders and we played it out from the back with confidence
  • Credit has to go to Wilder, come in to a struggling club throughout the past 5 years and made some acute signings and got us winning again
  • Not horrible long ball stuff, good quality football on the ground being played
  • On that viewing League is ours to lose
  • 4 different scorers which is always good to see and has the hallmarks of champions
  • Fans were quality, good backing by the fans and never stopped singing
  • Thinks Blades will win league followed by Scunny.
  • Surprised nobody higher up has come in for Wilder and thinks someone needs to dip their toe in the water and give him a chance after what he's done with Oxford, Northampton and now what he's doing here.
Paul Merson did the Scunny match and the points he made about Scunny were;

  • Scunny looked a bit woeful despite leading 2-0 and 3-1
  • Bury never let their heads drop and deserved a point
  • Thinks it'll be between Scunny and Bolton who finished 2nd with Blades winning the league "comfortably"

Just recorded it from telebox and uploading it to Youtube fellas, for those who missed it.....Two secs and I will post it on here.

I don't think a Premier League club would come in for him

I don't think a top end Championship club would come in for him either because they are happy with the way things are

The only danger would be from a club like Forest, Villa or Wolves who are struggling and I don't think he'd be tempted by any of those except maybe Villa

It's easy for the likes of him to say we'll 'win the league comfortably'.

We might do, we might not. We know how easily things can go tits up.

But there's absolutely no doubt that we ARE the best team in the league right now, and by quite a distance.

He made us sound like Real Madrid, fantastic report from him, particularly happy he made the point about how good the football was, no lumping it from the back, he also heaped huge praise on Fleck which is good news if he's is now fully back on song.

Happy Days.

yes it can go tits up
it baffles me why so many seem intent on believing it wil

we have a very very good team just now , probably the best , in terms of against its peers

Watched it with interest as well spoke very highly of us ,
Lots of good things to say , from the back to the front , although he correctly said keeper could have done better for 2nd goal , ( and I'm sure the keeper will agree ) only a slight grumble mind .
He certainly praised us better , than what he played for us ,
unfortunately I saw him playing for us :( .
He did heap praise on the following , singing through the match , well done Blades ,

Great stuff. The only bit I'd take issue with is this ^
Just shows the Premier League Specs that they view football through.

His problem is hes called Chris Wilder ,if he was called Christoph Wilderio and was a Portuguese waiter he would be straight in.

You must have been in a coma for tge last twenty years then
no suffered every minute for the past 50 years

but why when we win , which is nearly every game is the first response

oooooh it wont last
we,ll blow up , we always do

OPEN YOUR EYES , look at how we are playing, in every single game
