Can someone explain to me why Adams , O'Driscoll etc are all being mentioned but Brown is not ?
I don't understand why he hasn't been offered the job already and let him get started on repairing this chaos.

Seriously ,if people don't like him because he uses sunbeds ,has walkie talkie type thingy and is a crap singer ,maybe they should look at his record as a manager and assistant instead. He would be the answer for us.
 
I thought he made an arse of hmself after humiliating his players at Man City after a small blip in an oherwise fantastic run. He's always come accross as a bit smug. But none of that really matters. He's done OK as a manager and I wouldn't mind him. He forms part of a list that I wouldn't mind but can't get excited about either. But that's where we are right now.

Of course, for all we know he could be a front-runner still. Our insistence on keeping things quiet, coupled with the fact he's not employed by a chairman that could kick up a fuss in the media, would mean we wouldn't have heard anything if he was.
 
to be fair i reckon that brown would want a lot of money to spend, and he be on a few bob himself.
 
Why? Beggars/choosers etc. He's been out of work for a year. Like all sacked managers (or any of us), he would have been confident of being straight back into work, but weeks become months, months become etc. But he's still after a job. He must look at people like Jewell and realise it's not always that easy.

Sure, his stint in the PL went to his head, but he's not the only one. He's proven at this level and has always been my ideal choice - far more than the near-mythical status SO'D has attained.
 
Interestingly 1.4 seasons is now the average tenure of a manager in the Championship. In fact only 25 of the 92 managers in the PL and FL have been in post for more than one season, and only 15 have been in post for more than two seasons. I'm not sure what that proves. Maybe the importance of the manager is a bit of a myth? How many are so good that they have been consistant winners over their career?

I quote Sir Alf Ramsey (who wasn't bad at managing) who said 'managers get too much praise when they win and too much criticism when they lose'...
 
I'm puzzled too, he's out of work so could get cracking straight away.

Can only think Brown's ego arrived at BDTBL for his interview an hour or so befor the rest of him. He's very marmite and I would hazard a guess, not the type of manager Birch would like.
 
Totally in agreement while he wouldn't be my first choice he must rank higher than Adams.
 

The man won promotion off the back of one good run that Hull went on. The momentum of promotion carried into the PL and they continued their run up to November. From there they were fucking awful and barely won a game for the rest of the season. That piss poor form continued into the next.....

He humiliated himself and his players at Eastlands (losing the respect of his playing staff) and spent the whole of the next summer trying to sign players that Hull were never going to get.

Do you want any more reasons? I have a few.....
 
So one good run results in promotion to the premiership and then its just 'momentum' that keeps them up. The other 2 reasons are equally ridiculous. Brown is an innovative manager not afraid to try new ideas and push the boundaries. He was behind a lot of Boltons success and ideas ,as he was at Hull. He would be suited to our size club and ambitions. Compare his record to all the other candidates (Paul Hart ffs) and then tell me why you cant believe he's been mentioned at all.
 
They've probably seen what happened at Hull on and off the pitch and thought even we don't want someone like that at the Lane.

Spot on len. I am not a fan of the Paul Hart idea either but Phil Brown?! :eek:

I would sooner take our chances with Carver than either of them. I can understand where you're coming from in terms of size of club and such sitwell, but it would be an equally awful appointment. He had a good little run in charge of Hull and it all fell apart.....look where they are now?!!!!

If leading Hull right back to where they came from (with more debt) is innovative then I clearly misunderstand the word. If it is innovative then malaise forever I say :confused:

So what is the different to Adams?
 
As far as I know there aren't the same questionmarks against Adams off the pitch antics as there were Brown with his sidekick Duffen.
 
I would rather have Brown to Paul Hart any day of the week.

What has he achieved at any club?
 
First of all I know this snippet is from a friend of a friend, but the friend of a friend is Brown's ex-Assistant, so I've no reason to disbelieve. Anyway the information I have been given is that Brown was interviewed but wasn't too keen as we have no cash.

For the record, I'd also take Brown over Hart ... and Adams for that matter.
