Just noticed that the club have put in a planning application to SCC to extend the time limit for implementation of the approved 2009 kop extension. Maybe it has something to do with the residential application, which should be decided this month, and they might want to do both together if approved? Certainly the steps at the corner of John Street will have to go if/when they build it. Maybe Jakob thinks he knows how to fill it? Or maybe the most mundane and the most likely IMO, is that they still want to do it in the near future and spending £500 to buy another 3 years is preferable to stumping up another £36k for a full application if they decide to go ahead in that time and the previous one has lapsed?

McCabe was absolutely right to look at having a bigger and better ground. Our prem attendances showed our potential on home support and the need to be able to provide more tickets to away fans to give us several 40k attendances per year.

Big capacities and headline grabbing gates sends out all the right signals (and in the pigs case has created an incredible illusion about their massiveness).

Obviously as usual we missed the boat by not staying up but he's right to keep the dream alive for a few quid in the unlikely event we have the right circumstances again - though it'll probably be another 15 to 20 years by which point we'll be in bed with our neighbours in a European Super league Div 3.

Meantime he's looking to pocket what he can around the ground.

I wasn't bothered about the kop bogs having a roof on but those pillars do my head in.

But why not? £500 spent now for an extra 3 years in the hope of 2 quick promotions is better than having to fork out another £35k should they let it lapse and then suddenly finding that we're back in the premiership in 2014.

Yeah, I know... "Boss, de plane, de plane..."

But at 500 quid a pop every 3 years, we've got another 70 years to get back in the premier league before it becomes bad business... :D
