This is a genuine question and not a veiled attack but should we be worried that our youth teams don’t seem as successful in terms of results as they used to be. It felt like a few years ago they would win more often than not and finish at the top (or thereabouts) of their league. I know youth results don’t matter as such but it does sometimes concern me that the rich vein of young talent which has been pretty constant for years might be drying up somewhat. I might be wrong

Having a successful season in the youth competition doesnt always mean a few of the players are ready for the 1st team.

I remember Dave Bassett recalling some seasons when their youth team were winning games by 3 or 4 goals every week but none of the players were ready for the 1st team and there was another season when the youth team lost matches heavily every week but Brian Gayle was a regular in that season's youth team.

The U21s have been the dominant team in the last few years, U18s slightly less so.

These things always ebb and flow however, it's maybe not surprising given Peck/Seriki/Arblaster/One/Brooks have all graduated to the first team in recent years, leaving big holes in the squad. And the likes of Curtis, Sachdev, Faxon, Buyabu and Marsh have all gone out on loan.

I think with the likes of Beattie, Giggs and Sidibe coming through we're still looking well-stocked.

Is it sometimes due to the age of the players. , Without checking, don’t we have a young and inexperienced U-21 team.
Is Giggs actually a big talent?
