...we can say we have turned that corner that a lot of us Blades have been talking about for so long?

Blackie has completely turned the club around, and with the holes he had to patch up from Robson's 'leadership?' he's done extremely well if you ask me. Blackie has turned a team of 11 quality player from being lazy and wanting the points handing to them on a plate, to a team of 11 passion filled fighters who want the 3 points as soon as they step on that pitch, and 1 loss since he has took over is almost miracle worthy in my honest opinion.

Essence of Warnock is shining through him, and that is nothing but a huge positive.

"Blackwell give us a wave"
i think that chant in a manner, sums up our relationship
the fans love him, and who can blame us, 13 points from 15 probably best in the championship, at the train station all you could here is how far we off the play offs, not how fare we are off the relegtion zone, i really believe we can do it now :D
really happy with the unity and passion of the team aswell now

It'd be brilliant if we made it.

It shows how much rubbish came out of Robson's mouth - "The players aren't as good as I thought they were" - Or maybe he was just simply useless at his job.

I just hope that in the event of us losing a game, the positive vibes coming from the fans do not dissipate and start getting impatient. You only need a very short memory to recall the stuff we were playing at the beginning of the season. We're far from world beaters, but we're also a long way from being that poor.

was a Yorkshire derby though CFA. not really going to be hammering them

It wasn't a bloody derby. Our derby games are against Wendy. What next - Us v. Ferencvaros a derby, because we both play on the same continent?

That's your view, but many people - including the players and managers see differently.

They can see it through a telescope, beer goggles, cider visor or a stained glass window. As far as I'm concerned it's just another match.

Sound like Robson - another match.

It is a derby game. Barnsley is only what, 9 miles away from Sheffield. They hate us, so whether we like it or not we have to treat it as a derby in order to get that flair to win.

I do think it's Barnsley who consider their matches with Sheffield teams as derbies, because let's face it, who else have they got to have a derby with.

I believe there is only one derby we can play as a Sheffield club, and that's with that other lot.

EDIT:

But Liverpool is only 75 miles away and we hate them... so should we consider that a derby?

Maybe if calling it a derby is what it takes to "get that flair to win" we should be calling all matches derbies, irrelevant of where the opponents are from?

Or just calling them matches... which is what they are.

What about Sheffield F.C.

Big difference between 75 miles and 9 miles. I don't hate Liverpool, and there is a difference between hating a club, and them being very close, and then both. Leeds hate Chelsea, but that isn't a derby as they are too far apart. Where as Barnsley hate us (and Wednesday's) and with it being so close it obviously it's a derby game.

The extra flair to win against teams like Barnsley is needed. They are up for it more than we are (bigger game from their point of view).

Obviously Blackwell was wrong then too when he mentioned on Radio Sheffield that he didn't consider it just another game, but a derby.

Why do we need to show extra flair against certain other teams? Why don't we show maximum flair against them all, with the hope and belief that we can beat them all? The fact that they are just up the road should have bugger all to do with it.
Or we can call them all derbies, just because they are in the same league or country as us.

Using that logic though, we should treat every game in the league as a derby to get that flair to win, Plymouth is only what, 300 miles away?

Not really, when you consider we are but a small island nation, on a small planet, in a medium sized solar system in a big galaxy in the expanse of the Universe.

But I don't hate Barnsley, so does that make it not a derby game? This whole collecting derbies thing is a very Leeds United trait which is all rather sad. Nobody cares about them so they have to make up rivalries with teams who don't give a toss to make themselves feel good and important. Should I consider United's derbies with Greenhill Lowedges because they are the closest team to me?

They didn't need to call their match against Chelsea a derby in order to be up for it.

Every man is allowed to make one mistake ;)

We should yeah, i agree. But that doesn't happen does it?

Barnsley is actually classed as about just under 16 miles from Sheffield, but yeah.

Either way, its not a derby no matter how we look at it. It's another game that is closer than some others.

Yeah it does my head in how teams outside Sheffield try & make up rivalries.
I know a few Hull City fans who hate SUFC. But we dont extend it to them. Maybe its the fact we dont see them as being in the same league or as big as us. Even though nowadays, in league position they 'are'. Yorkshire Derbys are crap IMO and dont come near to the Sheffield Derby.

A lot of the Hull thing comes from when we pipped them for promotion from the old Third Division in 1984 on goals scored (both sides were +33on goal difference), and they've borne a grudge ever since.
