Penalty appeal and VAR

It was in the Snot Zone according to VAR so said no penalty. The bit where the player wipes the snot off on his sleeve. Bit like Lunnys toe. Apart from no snot.

How weren't we awarded a penalty for a blatant handball in the first half? I can understand Lee Mason missing it, but surely VAR officials could see that the Plymouth player's hands were in an unnatural position?!
There is no way a premier league ref should miss that and what was the linesman doing. Lee mason was blowing All game, couldn't keep up, it is a pen all day long. Even with bar they couldn't get it right.

I can’t even understand how Mason missed it. If he’d have given it, it wouldn’t have been overturned.

There is an addendum to the ruling , which states that.

It is a handball if the player holds his hands in an unnatural position ( unless Sheffield United benefit from that decision), it was an addendum proposed by Herr Klopp, and agreed by 18 other premier league clubs after Glen Hoddle gave his support to the proposal

Dont understand why he didnt go to the monitor and look for himself.

Another disgrace. Wish someone would sue these utter *****

When a shot is fired at you it is natural to cover your face, so no penalty

His hands were actually above his head.

If it was the other way round and it was us who got the benefit of that decision, I would think we had really had a huge slice of good luck.

One of the clearest handballs I've seen that wasn't penalised since Keith Edwards decided to play basket ball in the League cup home leg versus Shrewsbury back in the autumn of 1983!

That's just wrong. The natural thing to do if the ball is flying towards your head at speed is to move your head out of the way. That is no excuse for handling the ball according to FA rules.

This has been an annoyance of mine for years as this has always been applied inconsistently. I was once at a sportsmans dinner years ago and Jeff Winter was there so I tackled him on this very subject and he explained it in quite some detail. I actually contacted the FA soon after and they confirmed it.

Cant see how Mason would ha ve missed it he would have had to have his eyes shut.
I've no doubt that if he had given it the VAR wouldnt have stepped in.
I think it's called the 2nd class referee 's union.Mason is not a good referee as Nuno the Wolves manager says he doesn't understand the game.
At least it didnt effect the result, looked at it numerous times and I'm baffled how it wasnt given.

The actual rule is ridiculous but if we play to the letter of this rule that was a penalty all day long. Mason is a fat c@:# end of!

The other rule that’s doing my nappa in is the not raising the offside flag until the move is completed. Can somebody please explain the perceived merit in this as I really don’t get it?

It’s for in case/when the assistant referee judges it wrong and flags off when they’re actually on..... the thought being it’s better to not get it wrong in real-time and mess the game up when it can now be checked post goal. I don’t think the idea behind it is bad but it can lead to what look like bizarre situations like yesterday. Bear in mind the reverse happened to us last year against Newcastle when they were flagged offside, we stopped playing, they scored and VAR gave it

VAR has to go clear and obvious.

What amazes me is that the ref didn't give it in the first place.

It's not difficult to see if someone has their hands above their head or not.

VAR should overturn if there is some anomaly but the fact it wasn't given is a disgrace.

Thanks mate, hmmm - I can possibly see a case for marginal offsides but for blatantly obvious I think it’s ridiculous. The game is getting complicated AF they are sucking the life out of it 🙁
