For years I've bemoaned the lack of penalties for us and red cards for opponents at the Lane. I don't mean that I think there have been too few in general, I mean really obvious cases that aren't given.

Look at the difference those decisions can make. Irrespective of whether we have played as well as we would like, if referees showed up and did the basics of their job right we'd have turned a lot of draws into wins and a lot of narrow wins into comfortable strolls, and still be in touch with the auto promotion places.

It must be said that since Coventry we've had three very good refs at the Lane. Not quite so clever on Saturday but you can't get 'em all the time.

Fixed.

Seriously though, tonight's was poor but I could shrug my shoulders at the succession of baffling decisions as it wasn't costing us points for a change. What mattered was he was prepared to give fouls in the box.

He certainly showed bottle. To be honest I think he was OK, the bookings were all spot on from what I could tell for instance.
