That the bar set with the Championship Player of the Season, what fee are we looking at for Sydie? He’s not going into his last year and is 3 years younger and in theory 3 years more progression in him than Hackney.

Think the lowest id entertain is £15m.

Hackney is a far superior and more accomplished midfielder than Peck currently is and should rightfully command more.

It's easy to forget Peck has only been playing as a deep lying midfielder since he entered the first team squad in 2024, and then only became a regular because Arblaster was injured. He's far from the finished article but he's done bloody well to establish himself, attract premier league interest and become an England u21 regular. He's still got plenty of time on his hands and will no doubt achieve a hell of a lot more than Courts did (it hurts to say that because Coutts was sublime and it's a travesty he never got to show his true ability in the premier league).

I don't disagree - £25mil is ridiculous. But so is 15.

Indeed - I do think that both Peck & Brooks (and potentially Hamer) will secure us the funds to allow Wilder to build similar to what he did in L1. I think it was DCL and Ramsdale at the time? We need to have stronger units across the pitch and as productive as Hamer has been, we've always had to shoehorn him in.

If, as some have suggested, we go to a 352/532, I'd like to see O'Hare in the "Duffy role", with Phillips and Blaster behind and a front two of Bamford and Campbell.

#1 priority has to be a CB, if not two.

Exactly this, we need to stop undervaluing our players, eight figure fee for Galbraith who is 25, at Pecks age he was at Doncaster with moves to Salford and Orient to come before Swansea. Peck is a long way in front of where Galbraith was at 21.

The premium we charge is not for what Peck is now, it’s what he may develop into over the coming years.
