Always makes me laugh when a pundit says we’re a big and strong side.

The midfield 4 of Duffy, Norwood, Fleck and Coutts and Sharp up front are all light weight midgets ha ha. Hes also another one who doesn’t know why we petered away 2nd half of the season. I remember back in November when we were top of the league, then Coutts broke his leg the whole mood was that our promotion chance had gone and as predicted we were never the same. Now we have Norwood on board we’re back to controlling matches again.

He has a point though about us being regimented. We do play the same style and formation every single match, home or away. So it’s amazing that the opposition always tend to change their formation against us but still can’t stop us.

He also has a point about, we’re not outstanding, although he should explain that we haven’t got ‘“individually” outstanding players who can score a 35 yard screamer or can score a goal from nothing. However as a team unit we are so well drilled and generally control every game.

Fuckin idiot obviously he hasn’t watched us then.
But think the result he picks might be right.
No evidence to back it up just a lucky punt just like mine.

Perhaps he’s been in a coma since he stopped playing football? It’s the only explanation.

Yet again, staggeringly misinformed, under prepared and down right lazy punditry.

'Not exciting, not exceptional, well regimented....' wtf!!! You've been watching the wrong Sheffield side pal.

I can't believe people get paid for being this shit at stuff.

Another talking head gobshite bunged a cheque to give “opinions”. Just looked him up on Wikipedia (clearly far more research than he’s done).

* He played 4 games for Derby and 10 for us, both in 1996. So he’s hardly an expert on either club, is he?

* He then played another 7 games for Fulham and Chelsea over the next year, and then spells at Heybridge Swifts and Farnborough Town, where he made a grand total of, er 0 appearances. He retired in 1997- so he’s not exactly got any experience of playing in the modern game has he?

* Between 2001 and 2005, he had spells managing Chelmsford City and Welling United. These spells were clearly so successful there is no record of results or achievements on his own Wiki page. He has not managed in the 13 years since; so he’s not exactly an expert in the art of management, is he?

* His last actual role in the game was as assistant manager at Folkestone Invicta between 2005/6. So 12 years ago. At a club world famous in... well, Folkestone. He’s not really in demand, is he?

Point is; whats his relevance as a credible opinion in 2018? In fact, was really that relevant in 1998?

I’d also like to point out that Betfred TV would like you to throw money away by backing the wrong results, so employing know-nowt, never-really-have-beens like PP to “advise” their punters fits quite well with their business plans.

not exciting to watch is he fecking nuts

I think it's just obvious he hasn't really watched us play. The quality of the passing football is the best I've seen from a Blades side, ever.

I do think that sometimes we are a bit too mechanical though - it would be nice to have a bit more individual flair in there - a player or two that could do something different and unexpected. Brooks offered that and it just gave us that little bit of something extra at times, things like that can often make a difference in tight games.

It's a bit like watching an efficient machine watching United. They just keep on working away at teams, grinding them down, out-passing them, keeping the ball, moving it around the pitch and slowly working their way forwards until they get to the 18 yard box, and then it's like cat and mouse. We pause, we look for the perfect killer pass, and if it isn't on we retrace our steps and start all over again. I mean, you have to admire the composure that they show and their refusal to be knocked out of their stride, even when we go behind we still persist with the same approach. But there are games, like Brum at home for example, when the approach isn't working and we seem to run out of ideas. That's where I think the introduction of a flair player could change things for the better.

But hey! I'm not knocking it. There's one thing about watching United thesedays and that's you get your money's worth. They'll put in a tremendous effort and you'll see some great passing football. And you're more likely to see them win than at any other time in the past 50 years!

Long live ignorance.

Exactly this.

Doesn't wind me up at all even though I think people like him and Eadie are ignorant idiots.

I'm sure opposition managers aren't as ignorant but the more people continue to misinterpret us and we stay under the radar, suits me for a few reasons.

Exactly this. I’m casting my mind back to the Aston Villa, Bristol City and Cardiff City home matches last season. These teams set themselves up well defensively, soaked up all of our pressure and trusted that they had match winners at the other end of the field who would take a chance when it arrives. Unfortunately we don’t really have individual match winners of the ilk of Snodgrass. We so rarely score goals “from nothing” and it’s unusual that we ever get “smash and grab” type results.

I think we’ll probably drop a lot of points in this run of games up to Christmas against some of the divisions better sides. I see Forest and Stoke pushing through the pack as the season goes on, Middlesborough will stay in the mix and West Brom will runaway as winners.

I don’t think we’ll have quite enough to keep up with the pack as we don’t have the required funds to properly push on in January. But when you look at the squad we have, their players’ and managers back stories, the budget we have etc... it makes you incredibly proud to be a Blade.

Excellent post, agree we are mechanical, predictable and play like a machine.
We were exactly the same when we were promoted from league 1 where we patiently work the ball lokking for an opening.

Some teams in league 1, take Fleetwood, parked the bus packing out their defence denying us any space.
Our style started to struggle against teams defending deep and we had no plan B.
So Wilder bought 6ft 5 inch giant James Hanson, when teams parked the bus we just punted it into the box
And Hanson caused loads of problems meaning teams couldn’t just sit back any more.

The performance against Birmingham reminded me of the Fleetwood match. Brum packed out their defense for the first 75 minutes.
We had loads of attacks but couldn’t work any space and struggled to create a single chance.
It’s in these games we need someone who can take a long shot or produce a piece of individual dribbling skill.
Also credit to BCFC, for the last 15 minutes they suddenly switched and became very attacking and probably deserved a late goal.

He also says we’re not exciting. That’s utter bollocks.

As for our midfield midgets, Couttsy is a very solid six-footer and Ollie is 5-11.

Agree completely. That little bit of unknown in forward positions would, in my opinion, push us over the line. Whilst unrealistic that we will get him, it’s why Jota rumour is a good sign - he’d be pretty much exactly what we need.

If we understood so little about our own jobs and industries we'd be kicked out, and rightly so. There's a reason why some people are doctors and scientists and some clean the bogs. But at least someone who cleans the bogs knows what Domestos is.

This clown knows nothing

Maybe he just saw us against Swansea, first match on Sky but agree he obviously hasn’t seen us much.

What a clueless ignorant idiot. It staggers me that he’s actually been paid to come out with such crap. Seriously, not only does he not know what he’s talking about but the person who’s idea it was to employ him to spout such garbage needs to be sacked as well.

Mechanical, don’t think so. Look how Duffers turns ‘em inside out with flair. Look how Norwood sprays Hollywood passes.
Unexciting? Really? Some of the best one and two touch football played in a long time.
Big and Strong. Ah, what he really means is that we fight when defending and NEVER give up!

The man really needs to do some research before doing us down.

What he should have said is relentless perseverance, dogged determination, a team spirit second to none. Revolutionary 3 5 2 formation and a mid field to die for! Plus a back line that knows it’s job and a goalie that is destined for great things. Oh.......and one of the most consistent strikers over the past five years in British football!

What gets me is the less knowledgeable watching that will go away with idea where just a “big, not very exciting strong side so just perpetuating the myth further.

Christ if somebody were to offer to pay me to give my views, I’d at least do a bit of research on who I’m talking about.

Good grief. Normally I don't bother with stuff like this, but that was staggering.
"Sheffield united, won 8 in 10, top, crap, dull, - aren't going anywhere, no moneh"
"Derby County, won 1 in 6, brilliant, fabulous, fantastic..... oh, I've just spunked me sen."
