Now this might be about Maguire but it has a bit to do with us. Namely the following statement.

So according to Paul Merson you only play a back 3 if they're not good enough..... we played a 3 back all season and got most clean sheets AND most goals last season so I would say he's an idiot.

We've no Premier League pedigree and were League One a few years ago. Some pundits are shoe-horning us in to the debate, due to contractual obligations (sky needs to make all clubs exciting for selling the rights) and some are mentioning us cos they like us and our style.

Doesn't bother me in a United sense but am I understanding this correctly; if you don't have good enough defenders I'm assuming to play the standard formation of 442, you chose to play 1 less to compensate for it? If he's saying something else somebody please explain because otherwise it sounds like he's just opening his mouth and if something comes out relating to the topic at hand it's coincidence.
