WHAT??????

Quinny was bloody poor for just about the full 90.

Are you SERIOUSLY telling us that his form dipped after some cheering after an injury? Jesus, let's wrap him in a blanket and make sure he never gets near a football pitch again. Obviously in the wrong business.

As for Paul Connolly, all I see is a bit of banter, started by someone who has seen him this season. Hardly cause for the "no let's boo him" comment.
Or am I guilty of not taking things seriously enough and we are actually slagging the bloke down?

To be honest, I think a lot of this Quinny slating carries a bit of a whiff of pathetic bullying about it.
Small, ginner, ideal target.
Not nice.

And Irish, to boot.

Yes, I feel exactly the same way about it. He's had a really bad time on the pitch, and I am by no means a fan, but at least he has never hid, and with some of the neanderthal crowd reactions to him, nobody could blame him if he did.

To be fair to the lad, he probably needs to do a full pre-season with the first-team squad. Throwing him in at the deep end could make him, but it could also set him back. Put him on the bench for now and maybe he could play the odd 15-minute cameo role should the need arise.

You're possibly right broomhill, but this is also a typical blades mentality. Why does a player HAVE to play in the reserves and pre-season for months before they get a chance. I don't think Walcott, Scott Parker, Kyle Naughton, Kyle Walker etc. would be any different if theyd have had a full pre-season first. To me, a player is either good enough or theyre not, dont beleive in any of this 'fitness' and 'experience' b*llocks.

On tonights evidence Connelly is 100 times the player that Stewart ever was/will be/dreams of.

He's a specialist right back, and when you think that we have played Monty & Nosworthy there recently, it was just a relief to see a real one there again.

Not sure about this one. Don't forget that we were initially led to believe Keith TREACY was a lazy player by a Blackburn fan , who then couldn't understand how he played so well for us .
If the lad genuinely puts some effort in tonight instead of just making up the numbers ....I'll not grumble .

Well, It's absolutely got to be a praise . The lad settled in well and played his part to perfection . 10/10 for his effort and really felt for him when he started to feel the pain 15 mins from the end of the game. Well deserved standing ovation for an outstanding debut :)

You may be right. Lowton has had first team experience at Fradi, I think. Naughton had a season with Gretna. Didn't Walker also have a spell on loan somewhere?

I go back to the days before we had substitutes and loans and recall a number of youngsters being thrown in at the deep end to play the full 90 minutes - Graham Shaw, Alan Woodward, Colin Grainger, to name a few, all starred on their debuts. I can also recall Chris Wilder playing his first match in a cup tie and doing really well on a frozen pitch when all around him were slipping and sliding.

It's a different game today though.
