Looking at facebook tonight and one of the blades pages asked who the last player was to show passion to wear the shirt. When ever we used to go one down there was always a rallying call from players such as Morgan, Geary and even Monty. Nobody does this now.
How do we get it back?

We need to recruit a leader, with experience and drive. A combative ball winning midfielder to challenge Doyle for his place and the position of club captain.

The challenge is to find this player.

We need ball a winner because we keep loosing the thing.

What we really need is people ahead of the man in possession with either the space or the skill required to accept a pass that threatens to opposition.

Coaching, motivating and building the confidence of the players we have could achieve that.

Most footballers don't give a shit about the club they represent, whether they are Sheffield United players or otherwise. Sadly, finding players who demonstrate passion, commitment and endeavour for the club are few and far between.

Footballers have become, on the whole, mercenary and business like. They get paid to do a job. Unless they're a boyhood fan players are rarely so bothered these days. I am sure fans of other clubs have similar discussions. The higher up the league pyramid you go, the worse it is.

I am not criticising them for that attitude, because this is what the game has become. Dominated by money alone. As fans, we continue to get short changed by football itself. UTB
