Anyone know if it’s free to park today on the roads around the Lane

Can't help you with that but bus lanes are active. I was fined a few years ago when I drove on a bus lane at the bottom of Ecclesall Road - thinking it wasn't active

Best option if you can't bus it is to either park on a road maybe 10 15 mins walk away or bite the bullet and pay I'm afraid.

There are a few free roads quite close to the lane but they'll likely be taken up by now. Usually when I'm heading down a couple of even few hours before kick off you can see them filling up.

Thanks mate, it’s clear as mud trying to check online unless I’m missing something obvious

I doubt it mate. Very rare that the council offers free parking. Last time was in Covid I think. If you can get in early then it won't even cost you a fiver to park on the streets near to the lane.

Only ask mate because it’s Boxing Day and wondered if it was free. I’d probably aim to get down there for about 12.30

Haven’t they done away with the meters though, it’s all that app bollocks these days. On a normal match day I park up at Meadowhall and get the train in but that’s not an option today

With traffic wombles I'd have no idea but considering it's a match day I'd assume they'll have been charging their little machines all night with a touch on. Farm road or just after KFC over the bridge tend to be decent for me but aye get there early!

The App is really easy to use and is very useful.

PayByPhone is what I use for match days. Just install it and add your car reg and card details before setting off. When you get there, use the location ID that's on the street machine.

You get a reminder when it's running out and the option to extend your stay without going back to the car. Far better than using cash imo.

Fair enough mate I’m just a bit backward with technology.

Just checked and realised trams are running so going to park up at Meadowhall. Takes the hassle away

I don't think pays unfortunate, if I owned private land near Bramall Lane I'd charge, as would you.

Well neither of us know because neither of us own land there. Doesn't mean I have to like having to pay. I don't like paying for anything, but we have to do it.

It previously used to say parking was free on bank holidays but I can't find anything about bank holiday parking on the Council's website in the parking section. A cynic might say it's been left off or been made hard to find on purpose!

I’m parked on street near Sheldon and it’s free parking on bank holidays 👍

There's a certain exercise facility that used to be a homeware shop, near a motoring supplies shop just off Queens Road...their car park is free.

It's mad that bus lanes are active today...bus lanes that aren't in use on a normal busy Saturday or a regular Sunday...but are active today when there's only a reduced Sunday bus service on. Makes no sense!
