Just be aware if you park in B&Q during home games, they are issuing tickets to some vehicles, if you are observed walking out of the car park you may get a ticket. We got 1 saturday but they put wrong reg on the ticket so should get away with it..............hopefully.

Just ignore it.

Also, where Dunelm Mill used to be there's a new gym just opened up. They're pretending their massive car park will actually be full at some point so they've put cameras in place and you have to be a member to park there. Laughable. It was never full at the busiest of times. Mind you, I don't know if they'll enforce it and even if they did they couldn't make you pay. They seem to be on patrol in that whole area in general, around Halfords etc. I guess pretending they'll attract more customers than they ever will is something they all have in common.

That's not true. They are enforceable and the companies have started chasing up a lot more because people were ignoring them.

That's not true. They seldom if ever go to court. I've had about a dozen over the last 5 years and never paid a penny. I'm waiting for the last couple of pathetic begging letters from one for parking in The Francis Newton car park.

The "Bluebell Wood" car park next to Decathlon has raised the price this season from £3 to £4.

The ticket machine is covered up (It would cost £2.50) and hand written tickets are handed out. Clearly a good cause but the price rise is greedy and it would be interesting to know how much goes to the charity.
There are of course other car parks available........

Fair enough SBT I'm just going on what Martin Lewis was saying

They can't do you. Only councils can do you with a parking ticket. The best they can do is take you to court for trespassing. If they are perusing tickets then they are perusing the wrong thing so you can tell them to suck your stork.

They take you to the small claims court for breach of contract

The law has changed over the last few years so they can't clamp or threaten to clamp you but it has been made easier to pursue claims in the court.

That being said, as others have pointed out, what are they are in fact doing is issuing an invoice for trespassing for which they would have to prove how much money you cost them by parking there, they can't just decide on what amount they want to charge you.

And as an aside, I I didn't read your post properly blade too long but there's no way you're the President of Spain.

I love the idea of a BTL presidency of anything. Bring it on.

I could well be wrong, but even if a contract is entered into, I thought the terms had to be 'reasonable' to be enforced?
They do. I think there was a court case that established a fine is reasonable in principle but I can't be bothered to look it up right now.

From my experience, the worst that they can do is take you to the small claims court and try and claim back from you the money that they have lost by you being parked in one of their spaces instead of a customer.

This amount is usually so insignificant next to the costs of going to court that they won't normally bother. They will get enough money from the people that pay without questioning anything to not bother with the trouble of going to court.

I had one a couple of years ago at Centretainment when I parked in Meadowhall Retail Park carpark instead of the official cinema carpark is it was full (as per usual). The shops were all closed and the carpark empty and they still sent me a ticket. I just ignored their numerous letters that escalated through various threats until they gave up. Arseholes.

If anyone read the "Parking at Bradford City thread" you'll have read my mention of my nephew, 'Irish Johnny' ...

Thanks for the heads-up on the illegal car parking...
I can see him booking a month away instead of a fortnight for New Year 2017.

Does anyone know where the local vehicle compounds are in South Yorkshire?

One point ,don't respond. Once you respond it may give them some way of increasing the fine and scaring you more ,if you don't respond just deny you ever had one ,they wont take you to court ,not worth it for them.

I think the Grosvenor Casino does this too. It used to be something like £3.50 to park for the whole day (until 10pm) but I think to park there for the match they charge you £5.

Waitrose, always works for me.

Exactly what I have done on 3 occasions and never had more than 3 letters per incident.

I've never responded to the ones I got, but I found the chase varies from company to company. Britannia Parking did Waitrose carpark and wouldn't say boo to a goose. Presumably Waitrose don't want their customers threatened.

In contrast, Excel Parking cover a lot of carparks and they are a real piece of work. A series of increasingly threatening letters and inflated charges, followed by phone calls from a pseudo-solicitor. Then, after a hiatus of about 4 years, I guess they sold my debt onto another set of bastards who resumed the threats.

There was a fella on the radio that was getting chased from 3 years ago
