Paddy Kenny got a mixed response... but happy 40th birthday to Marcus Bent!

Not remembered fondly for his disastrous second spell at the club. He looked clumsy and often made the wrong decision on the pitch, but nevertheless he was one of the few positives of Adrian Heath's brief spell in charge with us. For that reason happy 40th Marcus Bent!

Massively talented, a few parallels with Leon. Also had that shot that nearly cleared the Kop. Definitely memorable

There's been a bumper crop of ex Blades celebrating their 40th this week, with Li Tie and Lee Hendrie also reaching this landmark. I decided they didn't warrant their own thread though!

Lost all respect with him during his second spell.

What did it for me was he came on during the most dismal night of the season at Scunthorpe, didn’t bother lifting a leg and ended up arguing with the travelling Blades.

He quite clearly didn’t give a fuck about us, and was more than happy to swan about stealing a wage for next to nothing. I can accept limited players trying their best and not being good enough, but he had the talent, but clearly couldn’t be arsed.

Phillips was playing in the PL for Sunderland and won the golden boot that season.

Not in 2011 he wasn't, which is the time period being talked about.

Bent's transformation from useless donkey under Heath to prolific goalscorer under Warnock was incredible, and reinforces the perception that Heath was clueless when it came to nurturing players and Warnock knows what he's doing. Shaun Murphy is another example.

My bad :(

The useless donkey comment gives the wrong impression though. Only played seven times under Heath, scoring twice. We didn't win a single one of those games.

Heath was a poor manager as you say and should never have got near the job. Warnock got the very best out of quite a few players
