We have none, nobody to go around defenders, nobody to leave their marker for dead. From keeper to the strikers we are way too slow. We need a cutting edge.

We have pace but we didn't think to put any of it on the bench.

Bogle, Lowe, Osborn, Burke would provide some much needed pace.

Baldock, Burke, Mousset, Lowe and Bogle. We do have it, but could always use a bit more, or at least start with more.

That being said you get fewer one on one battles when the opposition has an extra man on the pitch, two if you count the ref.

Burke worked his arse off tonight and countless times we broke with him on a defenders shoulder, just waiting for a threaded ball. If we attempted such a pass it normally went to a Villa player, or just decided to try and hoof it far too hard.

In fact whilst I am on the subject, we relied on hoof far too much again tonight. I said on another thread earlier that our decision making going forward has to improve and simply hoofing it into the channels for a lone striker won't cut it unless it is done with accuracy and other players get forward to support. So many times tonight we played the wrong ball when other players were in better positions. I know that putting your head up in the heat of battle and picking those slide rule passes is a rare quality, but we do have players who are capable.

Pace, pace, pace
Whats the obsession with it

It usually means, clumsy, no end product and falling down a lot.

We need speed of mind and intelligent footballing brains and we need to find it in Spain, Portugal and South America, not Derby, Wigan or Liverpool's youth team

I think our squad are deceptively fast. Only a couple that look fast, but I don't recall many of them getting embarrassed for pace last season.

Maybe only Norwood (and 34yr old Billy) where it's a notable flaw?

Nice to have more up front of course.
