Wilder teams have always been about creating high quality chances rather than a high volume of chances. The last three games have been poor but I can still remember TCamp missing two sitters, JRS missing four good/excellent opportunities and BBD missing a sitter. There was an opportunity yesterday to slip Cannon through for a one on one that was missed, a similar one happened for Hamer (to Campbell) against the pigs. In my book they are chances. Against Boro those relatively simple balls were played and missed by Cannon x2. Brewster had two decent chances vs Millwall iirc

I think the bigger problem in the last three games is that we've looked lifeless and shit all over the pitch. I'd give a pass for Oxford as you're never going to win every away game and a poor game once in a blue moon is expected. The Millwall and Plymouth performances are harder to explain.

I vaguely remember (and I'm not sure if this is some sort of Mandela effect lol) but in Wilders 1st stint albeit in league 1 I'm sure he said something along the lines of "I always want us to play with two up at the top of the pitch" So why not go back to basics now, two up front and play to the players strengths. I love Chris and he is the best we've had (for people of my age too young to remember or see the Bassett years) but he needs to take the shackles off and be more expansive if we are to have a chance of any play off ambitions never mind hope for a miracle in the top 2. For the squad we have we've scored nowhere near the amount of goals we should have. We basically tried to do what burnley have done, be built on a solid defensive foundation and let the talented players win the game however as soon as Souttar got ruled out, that then went out of the window. Instead of the board splashing £10m on Cannon we needed a like for like replacement for Souttar imo. Play offs will be interesting got to say.
