The atmosphere on the kop yesterday was fantastic, best IOM for ages, perhaps since the Spurs cup game

As we've always said, the team provide the effort/entertainment and we'll do our bit, we can be the 12th man

I actually thought the atmosphere was much better against Oxford when we hadn't even won a game at that point.

Given that we played a team that offered no threat whatsoever yesterday I thought the crowd was fairly muted up to the last 10-15 minutes.

The Lane has been shite for atmosphere (apart from cup games) for many years. Perhaps since Warnock.

We have been kicked in the bollocks so many times by this club over the last few years, that I think we are too afraid to believe we having the makings of a successful side. It's as though positivity and celebration will jinx everything.

With the obvious change in mentality, not to mention improved results, I'd expect the atmosphere to be better than it is at the minute, both home and away.

I think the mood of the crowd was really good, it was just a bit quiet. Nothing in the way of moaning and infighting that I could see.

Thought it was flat myself for a 4-0.
I get the feeling some fans are holding back at the lane. Maybe talked too much negative shit? Maybe waiting for a defeat or two to find their voices? But I do get the feeling some are holding back. Whatever the reason for certain fans reluctance, just let it go, get excited, eff it, we're on our way back, eff what anyone thinks we're there to support OUR team.

Long way to go yet and we've seen plenty of false dawns. We were great under Clough when he first came, that long run in the league and the cup run, when we could play our youth team against Rotherham and still win, we seemed unbeatable. Or first season under DW1, or 2003 when we couldn't fail to go up.
It's going to take a long time for a lot of people to get over that and remember that although we often fuck it up, we don't always fuck it up.

Agree with all that. In the BLUT yesterday and you (understandably) could hear a pin drop until the game was safe, the players relaxed and people could believe 3 points and a convincing performance weren`t going to be taken away from them.
I really cannot understand what some people can`t get about why so many fans are subdued and cynical.
No other club in the country has been systemically depleted by its owner, failed on EVERY meaningful occaision and faced so many off field, negative issues as us,yet our amazing fans still turn up in incredible numbers.
The stinking, cunting pigs get only a few more in the Championship, and only 22k turned up at Huddersfield for a top Champ derby today.
I cannot praise our wonderful fans enough.

That's a relief, been a while since we've had the greatest fans in the world line trotted out...

Exactly what I was going to say in regards to false dawn. My own confidence is up but I need to see more

So 19,700 against Port fucking Vale in the pub league 6th season means we aren`t?
Are you sure you`re on the right forum?
Bet there`s a MASSIVE queue of folk waithing for a seat next to you to become vacant.

I've always left trumpet polishing over being the greatest supporters on the planet, harping on about having amazing crowds and all that crap to Wednesdayites. I spent my childhood listening to that crap at school.

To listen to United fans banging out that old tune, grates with me and I'm sure many others. I don't give a fuck about numbers, noise is what matters.

What next? We start singing Barmy Army and travel to Norwich in grass skirts?

NO.

I am also completely against the pig like obsession with crowds. With respect you have read my post and taken from it completely the wrong message either because you haven`t really read it or I`ve worded it badly, although I think its pretty clear.
I have never been interested in a biggest cock competition and the only reason I mentioned the pigs was to illustrate how, under the circumstances our support is amazing.
I hope we can agree on that.

Come on rodders, of course its about winning but its also about pride, and I for one feel pride when I see the numbers turning up and when managers etc were full of praise for the atmosphere generated at BL, being proud of the club involves many things, ask fans of other clubs if they are not envious of our fan base, however its your opinion and thats fair enough.

Or to put it another way, it's not the size of the crowd, it's the fact that it hasn't decreased despite our repeated failures.

I see what your are saying and it is understandable. Its no secret that there have been severe fractions within our supporters but I feel we as a group need to strengthen our bridges. However, I do believe this sense of reluctance/hesitance is slowly dieing out at home games.

When do we get the place rocking again?

Potatoes Potatas
Tomatoes Tomatas

The fantastic loyal support our club continues to attract despite its repeated failures is wonderful.
I think we`re in agreement.

All I`m saying is our support and supporters are fucking amazing Full Stop.
