Our record against the top six

How many times do I have to say this? We don't know our results against the top six until May.

In any event, it's irrelevant. 24 teams; 46 games; all play each other twice; who gets most points?

All very true, but it's interesting none the less (well it is to stat geeks like me).

Interesting how all but Bolton are around the 1 point per game level. I suppose it shows that on average we are better at solving the parked bus problem than the others.

Presimably mentioned, but haven't most of our games this far against the top 6 been away? Skews the stats somewhat.

5 of our 7 games have been away against the current top 6.

Will be interesting if Wilder fails in the playoffs then how many fans will be calling for him and all his backroom staff to be sacked and then we start again?

Or, if we're struggling in the Championship by Christmas???

Maybe if we let a side build over two or three years like Scunthorpe have done, we however sell our best players every summer meaning its year zero every August whomever the manager is.

I have no doubts if we don't go up Fleck will be sold to the Championship, possibly Coutts as well if Clough takes over at Forest

Well it was probably Adams, however we had sunk so low in the talent well by that point the best player wasn't actually all that good.

It's why we have to get up this season, it would be a much more serious blow to lose Fleck in the coming summer.

Got to agree with Pinchy on this one. What if we get to the end of April and Peterborough, Millwall or Bristol Rovers (maybe all 3) are now occupying the play-off positions? All this then turns into statistical bollocks.

My point was that we don't sell our best players every summer, or at least didn't last summer, because with Wilder's arrival by then things had clearly changed, so it's surprising to still see this complaint when it's manifestly no longer true. The evidence is there for all to see: we didn't sell our best player, in fact we kept our best players; we signed lots of new players which added to the ones we didn't sell is the best in the division; we are going up to the Championship; and we will strengthen the squad for that challenge in the summer.

If, a big if, we beat scunny and bolton at home, then I believe that will as good as secure a top two spot. Although I will be a thousand miles away, I personally will be a bag of nerves on those days.

The suggestion that Adams was our best player doesn't hold water. He was nowhere near. Tufty had no intention of playing him in the first team in any event.
