Too young for the likes of whitehurst-probably even Morgan era (was a kid at the time going to my first games with my grandad at the time), but putting them in a room with lunny and making them wear a grealish shirt seems like a good route to me.

The racist abuse Didzy got yesterday really got under my skin.

Whilst the rational part of me feels the only way to stop or reduce abuse like this is through empathy or education... the irrational part just wants to punch racists to the floor and then kick them till they piss claret for a few weeks.

So, to indulge that impulse for a bit of relief - hypothetically, if you could choose one Blade past or present to be our “enforcer” (to get a legal immunity to ‘physically educate’ anyone who racially abuses another Blade), then who would it be?

No one.

The bloke who did that, and others like him, are most likely not short of education and know what they are doing is wrong. But in this strange world of “publicise yourself” then the door to temptation to raise one’s profile, by fair means or foul, is wide open.

He doesn’t need to be “enforced”. He just needs to be traced and go through a Court of Law and punished. If he risked losing his credibility and his future livelihood then him and others might think twice before doing it.

As things stand, he can pop up, get publicity and disappear again without recourse. That’s what’s wrong. And what you are suggesting, albeit in fun, is also wrong.

These matters need to be taken seriously. It’s not a case of ‘which of our former players would be best to sort him out’, it’s a matter of how do we put an end to this vile, cowardly, online abuse that, in this case, seemingly has a racist motive but it’s far bigger than that. Young children are being abused and bullied online also. There needs to be a complete review of what is and isn’t permissible online and people need taking through the Courts for abusing it.
