First things first, good result, and job done in tricky circumstances.

But for goodness sake, our red card record this season is a joke.

2 against Charlton to chuck a very winnable game.

1 against Ipswich (fortunately didn't matter).

1 against Boro that could have affected the result at 2-1 down.

1 against the fowls that could have caused a joke of a result.

I've probably forgotten others.

We have to stop the red cards. Especially very experienced pros getting them.

They all matter.

Having key players out for 1-3 games for, in Bamford, Rothwell and Phillips cases for daft and unnecessary fouls is something we have to get sorted for next season.

Yes it’s the double whammy of a red and then a 3 game ban as well.

If you were being charitable on KP it was a genuine attempt to get the ball and his lack of match fitness meant that his swinging leg followed through at just the wrong height for Ingelssons knee, maybe not 100% deliberate just very clumsy. If anything I think it was less rash, less forceful and in a place where he had to challenge unlike Rothwells

I think you’re being very charitable. Anyone who’s played the game knows that you can tackle an opponent with the intention of leaving something on him or with the intention of leaving nothing on him and it’s easy enough to achieve whichever you want. Phillips didn’t soften his foot after the ball had gone. He could have if he’d wanted to and he paid the price.

I think stupidity was Bamford vs Ipswich, all the rest you’re completely right. Bad tackles and all straight reds which come with 3 match bans. Stupid

Charlton games unfair, two red that shouldn’t really have been reds if not for a complete roaster of a referee.

I saw plenty of replays. No apology needed from me. Wonder why KP went off apologising?
Never played the game, have you? If you had, you'd know that when you've just wellied the ball upfield and someone comes in with a challenge as you're punting the ball, one of you will very likely get caught. Very clumsy and not a straight red. What did you expect him to do tippy-tap it a few inches, just in case someone came in with a challenge?

I’m undecided on whether it’s a red or not.

Yeah, in slow-motion the follow-through makes it look much worse.

But at speed in the ground it just looked an ordinary clearance / clash of body parts, with no malice intended.

Where else can his leg go in that motion with the Wednesday player chasing in on top of him to try and also win that ball…

It was a clear as day red card.

He hasn't gone with force or speed.

If you want a red card for that then fair enough but I am seeing similar or worse left on our lads that barely see a yellow.

No Blade In Flame, I haven’t. School team was my limit, but I’ve seen plenty of hard challenges over the years. It looked to me as though there was a secondary movement, not just a strong follow through. Fwiw, I think he’s a brilliant signing and will be a massive influence for us which is probably why I’m so disappointed in him today. Nonetheless, a brilliant result and it certainly doesn’t take the gloss off it does it?! Have a cracking night. 👍

On McCullan at Charlton for example. Much worse and just a yellow.

Surprised Wilder isn't making more about it. One left on Brooks the other week as well.

Also I bet we get fined for the handbags today.

Everytime we get a deserved red card why is there always people trying to defend it?

It's embarrassing.

Phillips 100% did it on purpose, look at his reaction, look at Wilder's reaction.

No complaints.

Yet the people involved in the game - namely Wilder and Phillips himself have accepted it’s a red.

Wilder effectively said it was a red in his post match, and Phillips left the pitch with his hands up apologising - they know it’s a red.

Anyone defending it really had the blades tinted specs on.

Another one who's never played the game. Bore off sunshine. Just been reading your little apologetic posts in the match thread. Why are we saddled with such soggy rice pudding heads as fans?

Clear Red imo, stupid as he's won the ball and cleared it, but in that split second he's unhappy with the challenge and stuck his studs in. Not a standard follow-through, it's intentional and idiotic.
