Expect I will get some stick for this but hey ho.
Last seasons supposed crap
Sammon
Hammond
Coutts
Scougall
Freeman?
Collins?

Under Wilder the 3 remaining have all been potential MoM so far. Also last season Sammon on fire in his first match against Peterboro (i think) then fell apart.
Makes you think dunnit?

Out of all of them I think Sammon and Hammond were mostly shite, Coutts had about a months worth of decent games the rest were shite, Scouggs didn't get much chance to prove his worth but to be honest wasn't very good when he did get it, Collins was not very good at all and Freeman was wrongly dropped for the beard after playing well and being one of our better players in a poor side.

Hammond was probably OK once upon a time, Sammon has always been shite. As above, Collins was just not very good. I'm sure Tufty had them all in and laid the options out.

Just goes to show what a bit of decent management can do.

Im sure it helped when he was sat in the stand , seeing what we did , and knowing ,
who was trying and who wasnt giving a fuck .
Then said right when I get the stripes I'll sort these fuckers out .

OP Seems to have missed a few shite players from last season

McEveley
Cuvelier
Howard
Higdon

and arguably

Flynn
JCR
McGahey
Baxter (different reasons though)

Wasn't meant to be an exhaustive list. Was just pointing out that under a different manager, players that were considered crap seem to have found a new lease of life. The reason I said I expected some stick was because I suggested the crapness of Sammon and Hammond may not have been entirely their own fault. (I still accept they were crap)

I love the idea that Clough signed all these great players that Adkins turned into poor ones. It's a shame for them that the entirety of the football world haven't been fooled, and also think it was a much simpler explanation - that Clough simply signed lots, and lots, of shit players.

No they are still shite and everybody knows it look at the bids we've had in for them

It boggles the mind that Dean Hammond got a game for the LEAGUE CHAMPIONS in the VERY SEASON they won the PL.
Proper fall from grace. Playing for PL winners to getting sacked from a mid table div 3 side. He must have given someone's dog a right kick at some point. :D

I don't see how you can lump Cuvelier in with that lot.. For short time he was fit, he was trying to get used to football again. No one returns to football from the injuries he had and hits the ground running. I'm glad we haven't kept him, but you really can't label someone as shite when injuries stopped him ever really getting a chance to show either way.

Take your point but also, he was crap in the majority of the games he played pre and post injury.

Don't actually think you can blame Adkins for signing Hammond - there was little to suggest he would end up so past his best so quickly. He'd been playing in a decent Leicester side when they went up and I'm sure a lot of people though he would be the answer to our lack of bite and control in midfield - especially at the L1 level. It was evident we'd been sold a dog tho after about 5 games and for all the talk of unseen work, I never saw him play well and not give away needless fouls at every opportunity.

Sammon on the other hand was a ridiculous signing. He's never been anything other than an enthusiastic runner with zero finishing ability - a move always doomed to failure whatever division we played in.

Reckon wilder could have got something out of Flynn. I rated him as a decent if not spectacular Squad player and one that could play in numerous positions - I'd rate his time here as ok overall.

Oh yeah I agree he was pretty crap in the very few games before his injury, but to be fair to him he got chucked into a team that was already doing badly.. He was always going to struggle. He came to us very highly rated, and I think if he ever fully recovers from injury, he will make a decent career for himself still.

Possibly. He showed glimpses of quality when he played for us. But whenever he had a good cameo, he usually followed it up with a crap game (decent at Rochdale- woeful v Burton for example).
