Our best strikers ever

Johnson (and Dunne) of course had the benefit of the change in the offside law which inflated goalscoring for half of Johnson's Blades career.
Arthur Brown (played for us 1902-08) had a brilliant goal ratio for a striker when it was harder to score in the pre 1925 offside rules.

95 goals in 178 games

In my lifetime, Deano and Edwards.
Historically....
Fred Priest
Harry Johnson jnr
Jimmy Dunne
Jock Dodds
Doc Pace
Mick Jones
Billy Dearden
Priest was a winger/inside forward

Our best strikers for each decade
1890 - Harry Hammond
1900 - Arthur Brown
1910 - Joe Kitchen
1920 - Harry Johnson jnr
1930 - Jimmy Dunne and then Jock Dodds
1940 - Didnt have a consistent striker for more than two seasons
early 1950s - Harold Brook
Late 1950s early 1960s - Doc Pace
1960s - Mick Jones
1970s - Bill Dearden and then Keith Edwards
1980s - Keith Edwards and then Brian Deane
1990s - Brian Deane
2000s and 2010s - see 1940s

Bill Punton, signs from the Pork for £5000. One and only appearance was against the Pigs, comes on as sub, scores, win 1-0, then fucks off never to be seen again. Legend.

Deane
Edwards

I started going 83/84 - Edwards was my first proper hero...Deane took over that mantle. Be some player who ever got ahead of them in the future in my all time Blades eleven

Noone that close in my lifetime

Next tier would be:

Agana
Beattie

Then a big drop off to likes of....

Sharp
Evans
Blake
Fjortfoft

After that struggling:
Hulse did well but in limited time
Marcelo and Katchouro scored a fairfew but were nowhere near the above
Peschisolido gets a mention too but was never a regular:

Can only reinforce a couple of mentioned strikers, Pace and Tudor, to the more obvious ones.

I loved watching Kabba as also mentioned.

One to add - Addison.

Woodward and Deane probably my all time favourites.

I well remember that goal from the baldy,
Did we really sign him from the pork?
Wiki has his previous club as Norwich.

Where's Silent Blade ?

Nobody seems to of mentioned Dean Saunders, great player perhaps a little past his best when we had him but still scored some great goals for us.
But for me there's only one Deano , he scored goals in virtually every devision .

Deano Deano ..

I think for everyone born around 1980 or later it's the one and only Deano. Before that Edwards and Jones get rave reviews.

Whilst Edwards was my favourite player of the time, he played most of his games in Div 2 and lower. I don't think he's anywhere near our best striker. I don't think he can be compared with Jones or Deano who played at the top level.
