Harry Johnson - Goal Scoring Hero
It is rare for a football story to be as endearing as that of Harry Johnson. From being an unassuming character from a small village to end up being the top scorer in the history of his two different football clubs and part of an FA Cup winning team. Here is his story... Harry Johnsond3d4football.com
The 33 year old who has played almost his entire career at a lower level has scored more goals than the 23 year old playing higher up. Colour me shocked.I'd have to pick the guy who has scored 241 goals in his career.
First hurdle. This poll falls at the first hurdle. Billy Sharp is a supreme goalscorer at a lower level and would be in the Premier League if the defenders weren't as good. He's not getting the chances at this level because his strengths are negated by the quicker, stronger and more tactically aware defenders he's up against. McBurnie is far better at creating a chance for himself as seen against Manchester United and Brighton.
McBurnie now (23.5yrs old):
PL: 10(26) apps, 3 goals (including 2 starts and 15 sub appearances for Swansea)
Championship: 53(5) apps, 31 goals
League One: 2(13) apps, 0 goals
League Two: 2(6) apps, 3 goals
Plus: Conference: 14 apps, 5 goals
Total: 37 goals in 67(50) appearances. Weighting goals - 4 points for scoring in the PL down to 1 for League Two, McBurnie scores 108 points over those 67(50) appearances. Taking a sub appearance as 0.2 of a full game, McBurnie has scored 108 points in 77 games or 1.4 points/game.
Sharp at 23.5 yrs old (to August 2009):
PL: 0 apps, 0 goals
Championship: 38(15), 8 goals
League One: 80(2) apps, 53 goals
League Two: 16(0) apps, 9 goals
Conference: 0 apps, 0 goals
Unweighted score: 70 goals in 134(17) appearances. Weighted score: 139 points over 134(17) appearances (137.4 full apps so 1.01 points/game)
The 33 year old who has played almost his entire career at a lower level has scored more goals than the 23 year old playing higher up. Colour me shocked.
I for one am shockedThe 33 year old who has played almost his entire career at a lower level has scored more goals than the 23 year old playing higher up. Colour me shocked.
From the man who won't admit, even now, that he was wrong about Leon Clarke... erm...First hurdle.
FACT.
The only thing this actually proves is that you, and a small minority of noisy neighbours, would do well to introduce yourself to the concept of being wrong.

You've created this thread for no other reason than to generate some pointless split on the board between two of our players.I’ll tell you what.
One or two have really got their knickers in a twist on this one.
Simple question.
Zero context.
Put your own slant on it and cast your vote accordingly. Interpret the question however you so wish. Could I be any fairer ??
Don’t bother trying to justifying it. Make excuses for it ? Try and provide context for others when all it needs is for you to make your own context !!

One of which is a legend, one of which is carrying by our standards a very high price tag.
Acting like you thought the poll would be close, who are you kidding? You wouldn't have posted it if you thought that.
Very very weird.
At least you've stopped puttingFACT.

I’ve asked this before, but are there specific visa entry requirements to visit your world ??

Suppose you've decided if you can't beat em, join em?But it can be created by a minority of posters that, quite literally, live on the forum. That spend unhealthy amounts of time on here racking up a post count and monopolising shout box, mostly (But not always) being aggressive, rude and down right disrespectful directly to other forum members.
3 yrs - 9300 posts.Suppose you've decided if you can't beat em, join em?
I wasn't the one complaining about high output posters.3 yrs - 9300 posts.
10 yrs - 5800 posts.
I assume you can do the math !!
Today’s top tip - stop leading with your chin. Tuck it under.

Those figures were wrong 20 minutes ago, nevermind now. Do you have dial up internet by any chance?149

Righdo.
Not sure how much legs this has left so here goes.
As things stand, it’s 103 Bill, 12 Ol. This is because 4 posters chose to “spoil” their ballot papers and vote for all the candidates !
My bad really for not setting the poll up correctly.
So what did it prove ??
Well, fuck all in all honesty. Was just a bit of fun when all said and done.
And what was gleaned ?
I was honestly expecting, within the 4 walls of S2 4SU for an entirely different outcome. For it to be much closer. I would have had no
doubt that casting the net to a wider footballing audience would have resulted in a landslide (and fully understanding of the reasons why this would be so) but was much less sure of the outcome from “within”.
Which got me to thinking why is this so ??
The only answer I could come up with is that the forum, much like life in general, is heavily influenced by a minority that make a disproportionate amount of noise. That this disproportionate amount of noise distorts the perception of reality. It creates an untruth.
Now volume on a football forum can’t be measured in Db.
But it can be created by a minority of posters that, quite literally, live on the forum. That spend unhealthy amounts of time on here racking up a post count and monopolising shout box, mostly (But not always) being aggressive, rude and down right disrespectful directly to other forum members.
So, if this is anywhere near hitting the nail on the head, my personal learn from this is to drown out the noise. It really isn’t worth the dignity of any sort of response.
As always, UTB.
