Exactly.
Bert has spent well over 50 years watching United, 1000 + plus games. He gives his opinion on a forum designed for that purpose and somebody comes along and calls him a moron.
You draw your own conclusions.
There is indeed a moron on this thread. It ain’t Bert.

8 Championship players signings joining the Premier League this season.

Ryan Sessegnon - £24 million
Philip Billing - £14 million
Adam Webster - £20 million
Oliver Mcburnie - £17 million
Daniel James - £15 million
Neil Maupay - £20 million
Jarrod Bowen - £19 million
Che Adams - £15 million

You paid Championship prices, but wanted Premier League players?
You do realise you’ve destroyed your own argument there don’t you?

There’s a few way to cripple this argument. But you’ve actually compared our recruitment for O McB against Maupay / Dan James / Sessengon / Billing / Webster who are all good premier league standard players ? Shows you can do it we just haven’t got the right ones.

We paid league one prices for Premier league players?

Maupay has looked decent.......
But along with Billing and Webster might still be getting relegated.
Sessegnon doesnt play.
James has 3 goals, playing 500 minutes more in a better side.

Your hatred for the man is unjustified.

I don’t see how anyone can not rate Mousset. Yes he’s not been fit much, but he’s scored goals anyway. Imagine what he’ll be like with a good run and a full preseason under Wilder.

He’s miles better than McBurnie.

He appears to have the ability of a PL footballer, and he seems to enjoy the trappings of being a PL footballer, but unfortunately for whatever reason, doesn't appear to be prepared to make the sacrifices or put in the required effort to be a PL footballer. He barely broke sweat against Man Utd.

I do not hate him, I was using him as an example. We have spent £60m on Robinson / Mousset / McB / Berge.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but the recruitment team have got this well off.

Nothing would make Bert happier than to see him score a lot of goals, but the mythitical preseason? He's has 10 months with us!

He’s had some trouble in his personal life though and hasn’t played regularly before that. He’s our most talented striker, but oddly neither our best goalscorer (Billy) or our most creative (McGoldrick).

I’m much more confident he will come good than McBurnie.

But looking at today Mouse would not have put anything like the shift that McB did, he was a constant threat, & along with Berge they were 2 of if not our 2 best players.. Second half they both played really well, certainly Berge's best game so far.

I cannot see Mouse playing 30+ 90 minute games a season, I think he is a bit fragile & seems to dissapear from games, & is best for the first 60 minutes or the last 30!

McBurnie's best performance for us today by a mile. A change of tactics was just what he needed.

You could add Ming's to that list as well really

Never doubted any of them. Class acts, all looked nailed on to score last night.

There's a fair few over the seasons.

I think Berge's/McBurnie's performances tonight leave nothing more for me to say really. Criticism of them has been bizarre. Fed up of saying it.
Don’t think it was bizarre. In hindsight almost definitely unwarranted, but it was certainly to be expected given the patience of some fans, especially in this day and age.

Maybe not bizarre.

It was fueled by sentiment really, so not that odd I guess.

It's difficult for some to accept that Sharp doesn't have much left to offer on the pitch at the club.

I've skimmed through this thread again and all I've seen is some valid questioning of the contribution being made by players who have been brought in and made first team regulars. There is no question that Berge has spent considerable time on the pitch being ineffective, McB has not hit the back of the net as much as we'd hoped (pre-requisite for a striker in most people's eyes) and Mousset has raised concerns with his fitness levels.
Yet anyone raising this is suddenly a "moron" and "worse than pigs". Granted, these OTT insults were delivered by just one poster who seems incapable of civilised discourse, but it now seems to be that many people won't countenance criticism of the players or Wilder's team decisions - not an attitude that was present under any of our previous managers. It looks like a cult status is developing around Wilder and the fan base is splitting between followers and heretics.
There's nothing wrong with questioning a player's performance on a football forum, or his selection. You can disagree with the opinion, but demanding that it can't be questioned is missing the point of a discussion forum. Apart from one post (McShitty) I haven't seen anything unreasonable, yet you would have thought people had booked their place in hell for eternity.
Players take a huge wage, bonuses, transfer pay-outs and when they play well they receive the accolades and even adoration of the fans. When they don't, they get criticism. They know that, if they can't deal with it they should choose a different profession. When they hear that fans are unhappy with their performance, they should take it as a kick up the arse and get on with it.
These players and the whole team upped their game last match and hopefully that will continue, but if any player under-performs in the future I would expect comments about it on here and that would be completely normal.

So people who question a lack-lustre performance from a striker are only doing it because they can't accept that Sharp hasn't much left to offer? What a fucking stupid comment. Was your ridiculously condescending attitude why you got thrown off the Leicester City forums?

INB4 Berge and McBurnie have a quiet game, Moose comes on and doesn’t run about, and some more idiots come on this thread and call them a waste of money or not good enough for us

I can see it already

Hilarious.

How can you say it’s ‘valid questioning’ when people are saying they’re a ‘waste of money’? How’s that valid hahahaha

People have been falling over themselves to write Berge off. It’s been embarrassing.

As for McBurnie not hitting the back of the net - unless you lack brain cells it’s quite easy to find the issue there - a complete lack of service. Gets 1 chance against Spurs - bang. Goal. He’s a great finisher if you provide him some service.

I couldn’t be arsed to read the rest frankly because it looked boring.

So, this sums up our 3 biggest signing this season after the past 2 games, and its only because Moussett scored......https://youtu.be/cbJgg-0m95E

I knew you'd be along to prove me right.
Thanks.

I’ve had the email this morning with the pre match. Interesting to see the comparison between McBurnie and Rodriguez. I’ve always thought of Rodriguez as a solid but unspectacular PL forward. Him and McBurnie are pretty much neck and neck with Rodriguez on 1 more goal. I’d have taken that at the start of the season.

Don't think Mousset could be accused of not putting it in against Spurs at the point he scored he looked wasted, no wonder the celebrations went on
(" Just hold me a bit longer guys, I need the rest.")

There’s a slight difference between commenting on below-expected performances and applying that to a categorical assessment on whether they’ve been a waste of money. There have been so many comments on Berge in particular that fail to even remotely consider that there is likely a settling in process. That can actually be applied to all 3 in some respect. The fact there is criticism isn’t a problem – the type, and disproportionality of most of it, has been a bit embarrassing to read. Though sadly, not surprising – “McShitty” is basically this year’s equivalent of “Toxic Ollie” last season.

If Brentford don’t go up I hope we sign Ollie Watkins for next seasons thread.

‘Ollie Shitkins’?
‘Ollie Shitstinks’?
‘Ollie Watcunt’?

I think that one post has coloured people's views of some of the other criticism. Take that one out, I didn't see much agreement with its content. Bert's waste of money post was not a "categorical" assessment, it was an assessment of their value "so far". But that's missed as the red mist decends. From the performance and contribution to that point, it was a reasonable comment - even if you disagree with it.
I argued the point on another thread that this settling in process can't be done with 90 minutes of a PL match - these games can't be used as an apprentice's training run-out. That's not writing him off or not wanting him to come good, it's an opinion on how the first team can't carry someone who isn't performing. Yet some people jump to the extreme and it's "writing off" and "embarrassing" and we get "Humble Pie" threads. It's all getting a but cultish and divisive.
