In my near 40 years watching us I don't remember us having such balance and varied options.

It might be selective memory loss getting starry eyed over the last few years but for a squad of 21 or 22 whatever it is, we no longer seem reliant on square pegs in round holes, and seem to have options to change the set up for every eventuality.

Struggling to remember feeling like this before even when Warnock had 40 man squads.

Organised on the pitch, and seemingly off it too. I say that knowing the courts verdict and circus surrounding it but in all honesty it doesn’t appear to have affected the operations on the football side.

How often have we been able to say that? Never??

But the biggest task for the manager these days will be selecting a clear starting line up. God knows how he does it, and unless there are a few injuries he literally has only 2-3 players maximum who are shoe in every week. Hopefully that famed team spirit, good team pro’s and the desire to push each other to get better will drive the club on to something special.
If Burnley, Bournemouth, Brighton can do it then so can we.

The test this season will be the new players buying into the team spirit which will be needed more than ever when we have inevitable losing runs that we've not experienced in recent years.

Should also say we've had proper options ever since Wilder had the chance to build his own squad. Now they're all good options because we've had the budget.

He's uncompromising in his requirements. Two for every position, right and left sided balance.... seemingly basic things that have gone a really long way for us.

We're light on proper backup for JOC. That's my only concern, especially as he's been getting the odd injury.

Stevens is the cover there but that means changing 2 positions and losing physicality which I'd rather avoid.

Would've liked a solid LCB/LWB but if it was one of those or Osborn I can see why we chose Osborn. Bryan will be a factor in that, too.

Fleck is covered by Mo Besic and possibly Morrison.

JOC would be a blow but Bryan, Stevens, Jags or Stearman can be all be used as cover.
