Over for the game tomorrow, having bought a ticket after the Notts County game. Was feeling pretty pessimistic about the whole trip but the signing of Baxter has put a whole new light on the game. Looking forward to it again and think that McD out and Baxter is a positive step. Should be a tight game but see a 2-1 victory with Jose getting the winner:-)

I have said from close season that I wasn't going to get carried away this year. Until Weir can out the deadwood and high earners and replace with younger and better players than what we have then we are in limbo so to speak.
McD out and Baxter in saves wages and has made money.

David Kitson (33) - deadwood (IMO) and high earner
Danny Higginbotham (35) - deadwood and high earner
Kevin McDonald (24) - key player
Danny Coyne (39) - cover
Richard Cresswell (35)- deadwood and high earner
Erik Tonne (22) - deadwood
Jordan Chappell (21) - deadwood
Matthew Harriot (20) - deadwood
Lescinel Jean-Francois (26) - injured

Players in:
Jasper Johns (18)
Febien Brandy (24)
Lyle Taylor (23)
Jose Baxter (21)
Sean McGinty (20)
Stephen McGinn (24)

I don't know how much further we could go to fulfil your requirement of shipping out "deadwood and high earners". The speed with which Weir has assessed the issues with the squad he inherited and, crucially, has rectified them has really impressed me.

Right on, Balham. Weir is doing what most of us have been praying for someone to do for years. Out with the old, in with the new, and building a team based on young, talented players. It may not make for instant success, but the prospect of rising through the leagues with a young, football-playing team like Southampton or Swansea is very un-Bladelike, and very exciting.

Spot on Balham.

Some signings will do well for us and some won't, but the important thing is that the signings we are making are the right TYPE of players.

Weir has obviously made his long term intentions clear to the powers that be and in the short time he's been in charge he's already made many changes for the better behind the scenes and in terms of the playing staff. It's nice to have a man in charge thinking long term and trying to set foundations for the future of the club rather than looking at the short term targets.

Getting a good base of youngster's , and will get them to play his way , in his system , so when we get promoted ? the young un's will have 1 or 2 seasons together , not going over the top but pleasantly surprised at how our manager , gave the senior players a go , Porter pre season , and first couple of games , saw what we saw an honest if limited bloke, saw what we saw at full back gave em a go and they fluffed there chance ? Maybe the reason popye has upped his game , and kept the armband , wonder what the one's that turned us down are thinking now , maybe the new gaffer laid it on the line at the meeting what his way would be. while the others were just looking for a big pay day, not going to crow just yet, but well done everyone at OUR club sheffiled united , que press conference saying ,Long , Mags, and Collins have been sold. It'd be the blades way . U.T.B.

I wonder how bournemouth fans were feeling on the 6th October last season????

Replaced their manager who then went on a long unbearen run? We replaced our manager who went on a shorter unbeaten run. Clearly one was possibly a management issue, the other a team issue.;)

He has my support 100%. What I meant was I don't think we can expect promotion this season. If we get it then its a bonus. Weir needs time to sort it out and not be slagged off if we don't do well.

Dead wood wise I would say Williams and maybe Westlake. High earners wise I would say Doyle could be replaced with a cheaper wage and still get the same.

Lets hope he doesn't get a red card: The Outlaw Jose Baxter.
