from the official site:

"ironically, it will be the third successive season in which United have travelled to Derby on the weekend following the September International break!"

What is ironic about it?

It's ironic that people try to sound clever by using the word "ironically". But then fck it up.

Exactly. It's meta - irony. Which was what Alanis was singing about, but meta didn't fit into her rhyming structure. She ommitted it hoping that most americans would be too dumb to notice.

It worked.

Really pleased first match is live on TV. August 8th doesn't seem that far away.

Isn't this something daft now, like five out of our last six opening fixtures being televised?

Yes - only the Colchester game in 2007/8 was not on TV in the last 6 seasons.

Me and super_pig will be travellign back from London that day.... bums!

So we'll start the match in joint 23rd position and at the end of the match we'll be bottom of the Championship!

Oh well, at least "....the only way is up, baby, for you and me now." would be applicable

Do you reckon we'll make it on to the BBC this season, or am I trying to plat fog?

we'll be in Porto when the match is on - does anybody know where we'll be able to watch it?

Ironically it's my birthday weekend, I have quite a few Derby supporting mates, the train goes direct to Derby from Matlock and I'll be going for a good piss-up, no doubt meeting Brownie & Les and hopefully the sun will be shining for the third year in a row.

I'd have much preferred it to be on the Saturday, though I think I'll still be travelling regardless of whether it being on the box or not.

OMG we have been selected for live coverage on the BBC against Donny away in October. When did you last see the blades live on BBC????

Our 1-0 loss against Villa in the Cup was on the beeb. I'm crap with years, but it was snowing, Kendal was manager and Dwight York chipped a pen down the middle for the winner. There's probably been one more recent tho.

Wait a min.... wasnt our 3-1 win against Villa also on bbc? Andy Liddle bagged two.

Wasn't the dire FA Cup replay at Boro live on the Beeb just after Hoofy took over?

Just announced our away trip there is on Sky again, game switched to Sunday 1.15 22nd Aug. First 2 away games on Sky, both switched to Sunday !!

Away trip to Donny now on the Beeb as well, jeez, we are popular !! Switched to 5.15

Are they afraid to bring their cameras to the Lane ,nice exposure on tv but why are we always the visiting side .

I'll be in Australia (Brisbane) in August visiting my daughter.

Can any of our Aussie-based friends let me know if Championship games are screened there, and if so what Channel they will be on?

I appreciate that there will be a 9-hour time difference.

Thanks
