Not sure Burnley had to break much of a sweat there as we huffed and puffed our way through 94 minutes of...well, not much really. All they did was the simple stuff, kept the ball moving and ran at us out wide. First goal was a good ball played to an unmarked winger, who crossed to another unmarked wide man at the back stick. We've been getting away with this slack play by the full backs in recent games but not today. Hope that's a lesson learned.

Second was a really soft free kick, minimal contact but Gilchrist tied himself in knots and the awful referee was always going to give it. Poor free kick, we're slow to react and he gets a second bite with a big enough deflection and it's game over.

We ran about a bit, watched them pass the ball a lot and never looked like we had an extra gear. Good game for the new owners because they now know what a fabulous job Wilder's done juggling a tired bunch of players around, but he needs some help. We need a bit of strengthening so dig deep and we'll be fine. Hope Soutts isn't as bad as it looked (4 minutes injury time ffs 🙆) and I doubt we see him next game so really glad Anel's back.

Oh well, can't win 'em all, big big game next time out, interesting to see how we bounce back.

Game was over as soon as their 1st went in. Burnley by far the better side after that and managed the game out easily help by an outrageous deflected goal. I thought it was fairly even up to them scoring. The game showed up our lack of squad depth big style another couple of injuries today means we will really struggle to keep top two even with reinforcements. From what I see Leeds and Burnley look certs for top two we will have to do it the hard way unless Wilder can pull a rabbit out of the hat again.

today could well be a blessing in disguise with our new owners watching on highlights the need for a minimum of 4 players to come in next month if we get 4 good quality players through the door weve still got every chance of top 2 if it doesnt happen its looking obvious that its play offs at the best

Yep Both Leeds & Burnley have done us over. Both fair results. Boro were lucky to scrape past us. However, we are good ‘flat track bullies’ which is great in the Championship. Leeds & Burnley still not good at winning at lower ranked teams - so still all to play for.

Burnley have the best defence I have seen at this level since we came up from League one.

If they add a bit of attacking power to that in January they should piss the League in the second half of the season

Our squad deficiencies were exposed today, which you'd expect a good side to do.

We've done phenomenally well to be top of the table at Xmas with no left winger, academy kids filling the gaps everywhere and a young bunch of loanees.

It wasn't. They did a job on us and we hardly troubled their defence.
I normally watch us play out games thinking the oppo will never score

Today we looked like we wouldn’t, reckon we could still be playing now and be on nil

But, we can lose today, Sunday and next week and still win league, but it does show we need 3 or 4 new 1st team quality players to stand our ground

Lost to a better side today , showed that we don’t have the squad depth needed , let’s see what the new owners have to back us up.. the Souttar injury is the most concerning thing today

If it’s ligaments and he’s done for 3 months or so then we end the loan free up a loan spot.

If we go up and he’s fit again by the end of the season look to buy him back on a permanent in the summer.

Well summarised there. I thought Burnley were by far the better team today. A well deserved win for them.

Come off it Bert.
You're a good poster, but that wasn't a 2-0 defeat.

Check the stats. It was an even game. They scored an half chance and a deflection.

Possession 55 v 45
Shots 9 v 8
On target 3 v 4
Corners 6 v 5
xG 0.73 v 0.58

For the first time at home this season we have needed a 'plan b'

Plan B was same tactics but change some players. No pace up front or presuming to run off the back of a flick on from Moore. Same tactics and cautious safe passing all the time

2 goals down and all 11 back for every corner. So frustrating etc

We can let it go given the rest of our results, but we need some plans in place moving forward!

I thought it was a close game where they have a solid defence but not a great deal else. Their goal was a quality ball in and picked out the free man well, which was finished calmly. That one moment was the difference for me. At the top end of the pitch we seemed to be hoping for a bit of luck from a set piece or long throw that never came, and all our other moments in open play were easily snubbed out following a poor attacking decision or good reading of the play by a well organised defence. Apart from that I thought they gave the ball away fairly loosely and never had any control of the game - until the goal. After that, we didn’t open them up, and they got a slice of luck with the second to finish it off. They deserved the points.

We’ve come off the right side of a fair few tight games in recent weeks - eventually one goes against you. Fine margins in this league.

If we hadn’t gifted them the first goal like we did then I’m sure it would’ve ended 0-0. Only ourselves to blame, the result was absolutely nailed on after that, they were completely comfortable.

Have a look in the papers tomorrow it definitely was 0-2 defeat

0-0 was the fair result today.
No it wasn't, not sure what you were watching pal, but we deserved deserved to lose today, very poor half arsed performance, and got exactly what we deserved. Burnley played the game and deserved the win.

So we lost two half goals to nil.

You know full well there's only one statistic that counts.

We were determined to go through the thirds when they were flapping every time the ball was high or in the box. Got punished from their pressing and counter attacking which were there too big assets. It is what it is: a knackered squad short of experienced bodies. There wasn't much on the bench to change it. Fingers crossed H and Vini aren't too bad. We have to get through the next three in damage limitation and then add. It's looking more four or five than two or three tbh.

Possession is vanity, goals are sanity.

Even for 40 minutes but from the moment Burnley scored we were second best. They did to us what they did to Weeds earlier in the season. Organised sit back, defend well and have pacey players on the break. We were too predicable, slow in build up without the pace of Rak Saki or the movement of Campbell up front. Disappointing Anel didn't start as we needed his ability to bring the ball out of defence and get us up the pitch quickly. His extra height may have enabled him to get to the cross from which they scored their first. A poor goal to concede all round from the back 5.

The decision to move Ohare to the right to accommodate Brewster didn't work as Gilchrist once again was exposed which led to their first goal. If Brewster was ill why didn't Brooks start?

We huffed and puffed but didn't break down the best defence in the league. The option of Serikis pace from the bench which turned the game against Sunderland was also missing. The manager has done remarkably well to get us to the position we are in with a limited squad but we have come up short in the big games against the top teams losing 3 of the 4 so far.

The biggest loss today were the injuries to Souza and Souttar. Souttars could be season defining if he is out for a while. The evidence was there for all to see, new owners included, early incomings in the JTW a must.
