Paul Ince was at the game last night and wouldn't have been the only Championship manager watching with interest.

Can we hold to everyone? Guessing Ince was looking at Harry and Macca will have impressed as well

Harry is replaceable as is long. As long as we get the right price I have no problem with either going. Macca would be a big loss though

Couldn't agree more. We've waited for so long to have a midfielder with the vision and technique McDonald possesses. To sell him would be ridiculous and set us back to the post-Brown&McCall days.

This is kind of attitude that will see us never progress.
If we sold Maguire or Long for the "right price" it would just chip £1-2M off the debt we owe to multi-millionaire McCabe.
The money won't be spent improving the team and it won't be that easy finding a Championship quality player to play in Division Three on a U21 year olds wages.
A quicker and more satisfying way for McCabe to get his money back would be to allow Weir to keep his better players together.

Players come and go , will always be the same , Miller was starting to look essential , but took out by injury, we had to start without him and deGerilamo, we may yet sell 1 maybe 2 players , but the team will play to a system that wasnt badly affected by substitutions last night, ie players fitting into a team ethic , rather than the team relying on individuals, we have 16/18 who we can turn to make this system work , be sorry to see any go , but its the reality of our status

McCabe should now back Weir to get off too a good start and support the current team. One swallow doesn’t make a summer but if we are up there by the end of November then we should resist bids unless the player wants to go. McCabe's only got two chances of getting his money back. Selling to a silly investor (I don't think multi-millionaires are silly investors) or raising the value of the club by playing in a higher league. He is right to seek to stem his losses, but no one gets better by selling their best assets.

What else would he have to do in Donny on a Friday night? Bramall Lanes 20 mile away and there's nothing he wants to see on at Westfield.

I'd be more concerned if they'd been playing away at Carlisle and he was there, to be honest. Besides who in the right mind would leave Utd to go to shitty Blackpool, when the respective clubs are heading in opposing directions?

I'd wager any SUFC player who was offered a hefty wage increase and the chance to play at a higher level would leave in the blink of an eye. If we're ten points clear in January and Blackpool are bottom, then we might stand a chance.

Never mind that, Blackpool could start with a midfield of Basham and Bishop tomorrow night :)

I'm more worried at losing Weir at this moment in time rather than a player. If we start really well and Everton don't we could be needing a new manager again.

Especially if he sees the team he's trying to build being sold from under him. Should the time come he's more likely to stick around if he feels he's been backed not undermined.

All our players are irreplaceable. I'm fed up with the bullshit, we should be telling clubs to piss off.

If we want to sell one cos we want to get rid, then fine. Otherwise bollocks to Blackpool and anybody else. How the hell do you ever build a team if you're constantly selling everybody? Next decent player we sell, fook it. Not giving McCabe a brass farthing again. We had a massive wage bill, we now don't. If we sell anybody now, the board don't deserve any fans.

And before anybody says "what if we get an offer too big to refuse?" then that argument isn't coming into it, cos we won't. Nobody is paying more than £1m for Maguire, Long or McDonald. And anything less than that is an insult.
