I think the atmosphere at the lane has definitely deteriorated. I remember going as a younger man and starting chants on the Kop but now my lad attends with a group of his mates and they are far too cool to start a chant. Maybe a standing section in the Kop is needed to bring back the good old days. I couldn’t be in it though. Not with my arthritic hips.

When the lane gets going there is no better place, I miss that.

I'm sure it's more a sign of the times than the sport, but I'd challenge anyone not to smile in the lane when it's rocking.

That enthusiasm is infectious, we should be grasping anything we can to drag it back to what it once was
