Can't believe circa 22k will turn up tomorrow when 16k watched that - which was first home game as well. Mind you, if memory serves me correct we were dire in first half. Couldn't believe what I was seeing when we scored the three quick ones.

Kick off time is wrong from source I copied it from. I'm sure it was 3pm.

For those interested I got pretty pissed in Porter Cottage before the game.

I think the Cardiff matches at home are thrillers, we haven't won one for a while i don't think (might be wrong though). Morgs in the 90+3 min will always put a smile on my face.

Arsenal away at OT and Highbury, both good matched we did not win

Hard to talk about OT without feeling physically ill but we absolutely magnificent that day yes and IF that goal had gone, there would have been serious injuries sustained in the celebrations. What a side we looked like that day.

It definitely was 3pm KO. For some reason I was sat halfway down Gangway H on the Kop with my mate Daz, and equally as bizarrely, he'd brought his Dad (Patsy) along. We'd been in the Matilda beforehand for the requisite liveners and refreshment. Pats had enjoyed these more than either me or Daz.

At 2-0 down he started jumping up and down, yelling out in the glorious Dublin lilt "COME ON BARNSLEY! COME ON ROTHERHAM!" for absolutely no reason whatsoever. Just after that came the traditional phrase which Daz and I recited in tandem with him,

"It's not like it was. Y'know, with Birchenall, Jones, Woodward, Currie ...."

If I remember rightly the penalty cannoned in off the underside of the bar to make it 4-3, and Daz and I turned to each other and said pretty much verbatim, and also in tandem "You know what's going to happen now!". It did. 4-4.

I have to say I enjoyed that match as well.

There are plenty of better games that we haven't won but I wasn't born then, for my generation, going to Old Trafford and being in awe of the stadium then losing to the best team in the country because of Seaman's greatest ever save will be etched there forever.

Took Liverpool extra time and Michael Owen to beat us
Took Arsenal the greatest save of the then England number 1's career

Brilliant Mic, it was a cracker.

Sat afternoon game if I remember rightly and it was a red hot sunny day!

owd trafford when georgey boy scored............ injury cost us that one:eek:

It was just a fantastic day. Can picture Taylor's second now - had a season ticket at front of Kop that season. Must have been gutted to have let a 2 goal lead slip but I like to think I was back in boozer buzzing about the goals we scored.

Would pay alot of money to revisit that day, as I'm sure we could all say about alot of things.

Port Vale away has to be the ultimate best game we didn't win, in my time anyway.

It's interesting that 6 of that Birmingham team also played for us (I'm assuming that Hunt is Jonathan Hunt)
I remember Gary Ablett getting dogs abuse that day. He'd been on loan the season before and couldn't agree terms. The chant, "There's only one greedy bastard" rang around Bramall Lane. We might hear that again tomorrow.

Norwich 3 Blades 2 in the 5th Round of the FA Cup in 1989. Fabulous day out - we were in Div 3 as was, Norwich in the 1st. Ground absolutely packed with Blades and it seemed that every pub on the A47 had Blades outside. We came back twice to an own goal and a penalty through Deane and Agana only for them to snatch it. It was on MOTD with a very strange choice of Archie McPherson commentating.

I'm only admitting this because I've had a glass of plonk. But that was the last time I ever cried at a United result. I was devastated that a team could play so well against a top side and lose.

Injustice makes me cry.

Cardiff game when it was 0-0 at half-time and we won 5-3! Nuddy scored a hat-trick and Jack Lester scored a "Gazza v Scotland" goal, that was a classic, I think it went 1-0 Cardiff, 1-1, 3-1 Blades, 3-3, then two late goals to finish off.

I count 5 future Blades in Birmingham's team - 6 if the Hunt is Jonathan Hunt but I think he played for Derby.

Bennett, Ablett, Bruce, Devlin, Hunt, Furlong. I'm sure it's the same Hunt who gave us the rods at the Port Vale game. :)

Anybody remember the 3-3 draw with Wolves at the end of the 2002/2003 season when Peschisolido scored that screamer in the last minute?

Stunning match. I can remember the Norwich fans genuinely commiserating, saying we should have won. To ressurect a cliché, a good day for football.

sufclucy gave my season ticket to her mate that day, as I was watching Rotherham v Harlequins at Millmoor.

Thing is though, we won that match .....

Remember a Wolves match towards the end of the 1994/95 season that ended up 3-3 as well, also remember it well for a complete fucking bell end Wolves fan that tried throwing his weight around on the way back to Sheffield Station by threatening the 17 year old and long haired Brownie and his mates, and calling them all a set of little faggots and then getting put on his arse by the little 17 year old Brownie he tried to bully.

That'll be the match where Jostein Flo scored in the last minute, after Steve Bull scored late on to put them 3-2 up, I reckon. Matches involving United and wolves had a habit of having last minute equalisers at that time.

I remember starting the (eventually enormous roar of) "Fuck all! You're gonna win fuck all!" chant off at that match.

i remember the 2-2 draw with barnsley in the cup with 35000 at the lane and the 2-2 draw with leeds with also around 35k crowds ,both during our promotion season under basset and both the the only times id seen the ground really absoloutley chocka

the leeds game in particular was the most nervous ive ever been at a game i actually bit my fingernails so much my fingers bled
