prompted by SE1Blade .

Tonight we started with just one player in the starting 11 that was wearing a 'traditional' number, that person being James Wallace. If he had been replaced by say, Che Adams, would that have been the first time that a first team Sheffield United competitive fixture would have had 11 players on the pitch, that none of them had 1-11 on their backs?

Silent Blade , Darren ?

Definitely a Darren type fact that one... though suspect he'd struggle to answer that definitively. :)

Unless you wanna rephrase the question ..... :)

I wondered if a League One / Division Three team has ever made 10 changes to their lineup before.

The real benefit from going out of the cup is the not looking 6 points adrift because of the 2 games in hand
It leaves you in this insidious position when your reliant on winning games to look like your competing
The 2 semis v spurs wore us out at the worst possible time when the weather took out a couple of games and you look miles behind and it must affect morale
Thanks to Adkins for playing players with 13 to 28 on their backs last night its done us a great favour

Another question, no fouls until the 34th minute last night, what's the longest period from start of match to first foul.:D

I believe our League Cup defeat at Reading on 25th October 2005 Didn't feature any 1-11 players. In fact, there were only 2 players with a number lower than 20!

13 Barnes

26 Geary
25 Wright
16 Francis
32 Horwood

37 Nix
31 Law
22 Ross
38 S. Quinn

21 Forte
34 Marrison

yes when Warnock wanted out he was very thorough, his first thought was playing Geary in goal

Anorak attack: What's the highest total ever made my adding the starting numbers of a Sheffield United first eleven. ;-)

I thought I had you beaten. Chapeau.

I'm old enough to remember when the players were 1-11 & the one sub (that's ONE sub allowed) wore 12. At half time they had a woodbine and a cup of tea. Supporters wore wool scarves that itched like feck and we carried big wooden rattles.
