One dimensional sh*te

Felt Scougs, Basham, Flynn and Harris were very poor today - totally anonymous in some cases.

Not sure of the logic behind leaving Baxter on the bench for so long either, needed to be brought on after 50 mins or so, painfully obvious to me as no one got a grip on the midfield.

All very easy to say in the aftermath of a defeat but I'd have probably stuck with Doyle today too. Nothing against Reed who played ok (though he needs to take more risks in my opinion instead of keeping it easy all the time). Felt Doyle may have given us the organisation in the middle that seemed to be missing a bit.

Painfully flat second half, we just didn't seem to pick up from how we'd finished the first 45. Still, at least there's 135 points to go for!

Wasn't the best start to the season...midfielder at right back and right back at centre half wouldn't have helped with the cohesion in defence. I thought Basham would have played centre half with Davies in the middle of midfield to help Reed (not that he needed it, he looks better ever time I see him play) and Alcock should have gone to right back but that it just my opinion. I know we lost and I don't like loosing but just remember what happened at the start of last season when we were on Sky for the first game again, we won, played brilliant but then we didn't win again in the league till mid October. Just saying don't write off our season after just one game

Thought Alcock was good, Reed was excellent and Higdon good first half. Very disappointing display by the rest, and not to impressed by NC either.

I'm sorry but the ony time Ben Davies should be right back is if all our other players right down to under 10's are injured.

He put a good ball in for our goal but other than that just kept crossing it from too deep, and didn't have the pace to get back in position. If he is to play needs to be further forward with someone behind him.

Once I saw the team I though it was a brave selection. Personally would have started with Collins or Butler in defence and moved Alcock to right back. Much prefer players playing in favoured postions given the choice.

Early days though.

This season we will only have lost one mid Oct, at least it is out of the way.

What did Reed do exactly for you to describe his performance as "excellent"?

He was average for me, but still one of our better players on the day.

He played a couple of Hollywood balls that I guess have stuck in people's minds. He was okay, like you say. He looked neat and tidy against Fener too. Looking forward to seeing more of him.

Kids are always better than they actually do, Ironside was a legend in the making for a few games even though he did nowt.
Reed was better than Bash'em, pretty much everybody was ordinary though. Basham doesn't look good enough and McNulty doesn't look up to it either from his brief cameo. Hard to see where the goals will come from as per usual. Unless Higdon is planning on getting about 60 by himself, somebody needs to get the cheque book out for a change.

I thought Reed was pretty solid today, which for his age and experience is impressive in itself, but I didn't think he did anything particularly amazing.

I thought Reed looked good for someone his age making his first senior start and has great potential. However we should have replaced him with Baxter early in the second half as we needed someone to create more from midfield. Also Higdon should also have been replaced with either Porter or McNulty as he was hardly getting beyond walking pace and we needed more movement up front. Also with the depth of squad now we should not need to be playing players out of position although I did think Alcock was one of our better players.

Doesnt say much for his opinion of Collins if hes playing a right back in centre of defence does it?

True and Collins scored against Fener as well.

Might be trying to build a defense without him.

Him and Doyle are the last of the Championship wages I think?

The two diagonal long passes out to Murphy first half, and the way he was the one that always seemed available and prepared to be in space to receive the ball.

Didn't hide or seem or get fazed and given he's barely 17 that's why I thought he was excellent.

All about opinions though, people keep saying. :)
