on 5 points...

Before Bournemouth I'd said to myself get 5 points from these first four fixtures and we're on target to comfortably stay up. Although I expected the draw against Leicester and defeat to Chelski.

So far so good.

Now setting a target of 4 points from the next 4 fixtures. 9 points from 8 games still keeps our heads above water.

And we're not at our best yet.
Europe in 5 months. :)

That’s the thing I’m finding funny.

The media keep repeating how fantastic we are with many suggesting it’s down to our promotion momentum.
They still expect us to struggle once our enthusiasm has worn off.

Don’t think they realise that Wilder always starts slowly....then his teams get stronger throughout the season.
They also don’t realise that we have a really strong squad and many of our supposedly key players have hardly played yet.

Another weird thing is how the media are lauding Leicester City as being favourites to break into the top 6.
Our goalie hardly had a thing to do against Leicester who only had 2 shots on target all match the other week.
If pundits expect Leicester to finish 5th, then based on what a I saw we have a great chance of finishing top 10.

The pundits just assume that we’re currently playing at our max (due to enthusiasm) and it can’t last.

Saw a funny comment from a villa fan saying we are an poor side as even Enda Stevens makes our team. You would think they would know better after the lesson we gave them last season.

5 points return from our first 4 games is excellent.
A real plus is that we’ve created chances in all 4 games and put the ball in the back of the net in each game.
Teams coming up often struggle to get goals, CW has made some shrewd signings up top and the goals will continue.
Defensively we have been slightly disappointing, one area I thought we would be solid, but individual errors happen and I know the lads will learn from it.
Love how the boss realises this , he stuck with Bash who was immense at Chelsea.
JOC and John Egan will also be in the 11 to start against Southampton and deliver another 3 points in our bid for Europe 👍

This was from a Villa forum topic titled "Sheffield United", liked this one

Let's be clear on something - we're not in this league to make up numbers. We're not in this league to tread water and keep our heads above the drop-zone. We are in it to win the title.

Doing shit then.
Off the pace already.

Im gonna predict we finish 10th, 44 points.

Looking at the teams so far, theres so many beatable teams for us. Brighton, Watford, Villa, Norwich, Newcastle, West Ham, Southampton ...id expect us to beat all of them at home and pinch some away wins against some of them too.

Very importantly we are scoring goals. While this keeps happening the better I feel, we're not just relying on 1 goalscorer either!

It's not just that we have got 5 points from the first 4 games but we have taken points off 2 teams who are expected to be in our "mini league" in Bournemouth and Palace and a bonus point of Chelsea....who were were expected to get nothing from home or way, (along with City, Liverpool, Man United, Spurs & Arsenal). the most disappointing result so far has been Leicester, we could have and should have got something there.

It is, however 5 points from a possible 12 and whilst good and encouraging a couple of defeats for us and points for those below will soon see us in the bottom 6....we need to keep the momentum going.

Yeah the season before last that momentum thing was quite annoying. But this season I don’t mind a bit. We need every advantage we can get. But this time last season the media were blowing smoke up newly promoted Wolverhamptons arse and now they’re suffering from second season syndrome. I’m afraid we’re really going to have to earn any praise this season.
