Newcastle apparently in for him now. Unless CW (with EEL's help) can somehow persuade him to forego Champ (+ soon to be Prem) football and wages, I suspect Utd have missed the boat on this one.

It's no surprise that so many Championship clubs are interested in him.

For what could be as little as £1m it's an absolute no brainer of a gamble for half the clubs in that division with the money there now.

As I've said, our chance was at the end of August when we sold DCL. We missed it.

He's honestly not that good though.
To be fair I haven't seen him play except on channel 5 highlights....however 71 goals in 110 appearances for Barnet suggests he knows where the back of the net is....plus he definitely fills 'the big man hole' at 6'2in and massive shoulders

I watched him closely in their home match vs Hartlepool this year. His first touch was clumsy, he wasn't that mobile and his movement wasn't great. Leon Clarke would hit those figures in League 2 easily and offers more as a link up man.

Well there has to be a reason he's still at Barnet but somebody will take a gamble on him. OK sure the same is true on Pierre who has been at Wycombe a long time but could play at a higher level

We didn't "miss" that chance. We decided to invest elsewhere.

Ah yes, they play for free and the huge debt showing in the accounts year on year is made up.

:)

We signed almost everybody before it even became clear that DCL was going to be sold. Therefore it would appear the cost of the signings was already accounted for and the money from his sale was a bonus. Don't forget the money freed up by selling Adams and cutting the wage bill significantly. You can take the debt thing as far as you like - what if we sold a player for £5m and didn't reinvest a penny in the squad afterwards? Would that be fine as long as we have annual debts in excess of that? If the debts are inevitable surely the transfer/squad budget is factored in separately.

Fact is, we didn't then have a milllion or so sitting around, waiting to be spent yet deciding not to.

It's also inevitable that the outlay we'd already made dictated future spending.

So I heard that for EEL, Clarke could be a big factor in the signing of EEL because they are good mates.

Looking on EEL's twitter, is he good friends with Omar Bogle?? I highly doubt that Bogle would reject championship offers for us, just because of the fact that he is friends with EEL, but it was something that gave me a little bit of belief!

Bogle is best mates with EEL......Don't know what significance that holds but thought i would enlighten you all with it :)

BOGLE BID REJECTED

Sky sources understand Rotherham have had an offer of £850k rejected by Grimsby for Omar Bogle.

The striker is the leading scorer in EFL League Two, and is also being watched by a number of other Championship clubs, including Brentford, who view him as a potential replacement for Scott Hogan."

Surely if we are interested we would have more pull that Rotherham... however if Brentford want him I'm pretty sure he would go there. The £15m for Hogan will come in handy.

Everyone's after him, if this happens it'd be remarkable.

If everyone's after him then someone will get him but I don't think it will be us. I see we've been linked with him since August 2016 according to the Sun newspaper. Tbh - I don't think Wilder will go in for him, not at this stage. I think he'd be an expensive option, compared to Ched Evans for example, who is already proven at a much higher level. Although I don't think we are in a rush to bring Evans back either - I get the feeling this is going to be a "wait and see" operation. It's very strange that Wilder has completely played down any interest in Evans and seemed uncomfortable talking about it. As a Blade he will know just how devastatingly good Evans was and possibly could be again. But either Wilder is playing the cards very close to his chest or he's been told, in no uncertain terms, "no Evans". I think if Evans starts to show evidence of retaining his fitness and goal scoring prowess it may be someone we'd move for in the summer, but so far his comeback has been patchy with him being in and out of the team through injury.

I think it's far more likely Wilder will go for a younger, less well-known player, who is up and coming in the lower leagues or even non-league. And I think that wouldn't be a bad idea either. We'll see.

At this stage I don't think we need another striker - honestly!

Sharp
Lavery
Clarke
McJumper
Done

5 Strikers that should be more than capable of filling the 2 positions while in this league.

I see what you are saying, but out of those five, who would be good enough for the next level? For me, Sharp and perhaps Lavery if he kicks on. Clarke and Done for me are at their level, I don't think McNulty is even this level.
