I hope so .. that'll free some wasted wages up & you would have thought they'd have learnt after they bought Nyland

One of the worst keepers ever at BDTBL, would rather bring Goerge Long or Mark Howard back...even Simmo.......

You have to show respect as he’s the regular goalie for a decent football country (Sweden)
However there’s no denying that for us Olsen was average, he wasn’t exactly poor but wasn’t good either.
…he made good saves that any decent goalie should save….and let in goals where he had little chance

My concerns were he never made any great saves, in a short time even Wes Foderingham has pulled off some great saves for us
and also for such a giant goalie, unlike Jamal Blackman he didn’t seem to make good use of his height.

Our former goalie, the giant Blackman was poor at anything down on the floor but was great at catching crosses and any shots heading towards the top corners.
Blackman was 6ft 6, where as Olsen was 6ft 5, but you never had the same confidence that Olsen could command areas using his height.

Odd one that. He's not great by any means. Villa can't see owt in him surely? Couldn't they go for Henderson, for example?
Not really. Martinez is their no 1 and has done well for them, they just want an experienced keeper for cover.

Even Simmo!!!
Have you been on the wacky baccy?

Agree…..Olsen never got anywhere near Long or Simmo levels, who both seemed mentality scarred confidence wise.
I actually felt sorry for Simmo, you sensed that whenever the oppostion gained a corner they would score.
Simmon pulled off the odd great reflex save but hated coming off his line.

About a week ago there was newspaper 'talk' re Sam Johnstone at WBA wanting PL football ( fingers crossed he gets it this month, destabilising WBA)! But Villa in regards to a goalkeeper look like going down the short term route, experienced keeper thats happy to sit on the bench, which Olsen appears to be judging on his stint at Everton

OK maybe Simmo was a stretch too far.....but Olsen has been very poor.

I hope we have a replacement lined up before we let him go. We cannot have any serious intentions of reaching the play offs with Foderingham & Eastwood as our two keepers.

The car is full up with petrol should he need a lift to Brum. The standards of Swedish international goalkeepers must be really poor if he is their #1.

I'm not saying he's been good, but he was our goalkeeper during a period when we were sh*t. Would have been interesting to see him with a confident defence in front of him. But, looks like it ain't gonna happen now and I won't lose any sleep over his departure.
Definitely need to find a first choice keeper now though (as good as Fodderingham has been, he should be competition and not automatic first choice)

If we are thinking about it then it says to me we are getting another keeper in having let Verrips leave we would be a bit short in that area.

Not good at taking pens

A bit of chicken and egg, though.
I recall him constantly telling Baldock to tuck in narrower, vs Millwall, when we were playing a back 4. The problem with that was the 'Wall left side wing back had acres of space and was an out ball on every occasion. We kept getting pulled all over the place. His positioning was shit for the first goal, as well.
