I’d like us to try Slater and Brunt rather than persist with Norwood/Hourihane and Fleck. I’d be delighted if they were better and totally gobsmacked if they were any worse.

Easy to use that lazy cliche to slate professional players. And if Norwood doesn’t like it he can stop taking awful set pieces. Everyone in amateur football can avoid the first man on corners, for crying out loud.

A couple of things - I’ve played amateur football for 15 years, I can categorically state that not everyone can beat first man.
Secondly - Norwood is not alone in failing to beat the first man, referring specifically to corners (which I’m assuming you’re also talking about as its the classic set piece where ‘even a Sunday league player can beat the first man ffs’ - well here’s a stat, ‘according to a 2019 statistic based on corners taken in Europe’s top 5 leagues.... 40% failed to beat the first man’

With all due respect to Slater he’s nowhere near the level we need. Brunt might be one day but not at the moment and definitely not in the sitting role.I’d like us to try Slater and Brunt rather than persist with Norwood/Hourihane and Fleck. Got a spare 30 million to lend the club?None of our defensive midfielders can defend. Surely it is not too much to ask for someone who can take the ball from the defence and pass it to a teammate but can also track runners and make tackles.
AyeNorwood plays a lot better in a 3
Fleck plays a lot better in a 3
Egan plays a lot better as part of a back 3
Basham is outstanding as a RCB in a back 3
Davies would be perfect as a LCB in a back 3
Bogle/Baldock are both genuine out and out wing backs and struggle as a conventional Full backs
Stevens/RND are both genuine out and out wing backs and struggle as a conventional full backs
Osborn would make a great defensive ball winning midfielder if he was complemented by a ball playing midfielder of two.
But obviously the smart suited guy in the dug out knows better
Clearly your recollections of Bash in midfield are, at best hazyI would put Basham in the middle with either Fleck / Norwood until we are at a point where we can bring in some fresh faces . We Need someone in there with with a bit of height & can put a foot in where required.
Have you’s considered recruiting better defenders ( (& keeperAn exaggeration on my part, fair enough, but I maintain that for someone entrusted with a lot of set pieces Norwood’s are poor. He does hit the first man far too often.
FWIW I was in goal on Monday night. The opposition had 10 corners. All beat the first man. This is not unusual. And I’ve been playing amateur adult football for 30 years
Charming!Have you’s considered recruiting better defenders ( (& keeper)

He was taking a throw in last night on South Stand side of the pitch and someone in the crowd shouted a load of abuse at him. When he’d taken his throw he turned round and gave the fella a proper mouthful back.
I agree mate , but using what we’ve got in the meantime until hopefully the the owner will put his hand in his pocket in January. As sitwell said in the thread Guedioura probably another option in the interim .Sadly, I think Bash has pretty much gone and now too slow/clumsy to play CM. We need someone who can bite into a tackle.

Im far from Norwood’s biggest fan but IMO he had a great first half Saturday and played pretty decent last night too when he came on. Similarly Fleck was decent at the weekend but last night not really at it, albeit he did win the penalty.
Would like to see Guedioura given his chance.
Now you've gone and done it.What a game he had last night, every corner he took was bob on , pinging all over the place, tackling all over , taking the piss out of the home fans , brill Ollie !!
