Not really a narrative mate, its an observation.

It's a bit comical that you've read my message and rather than say "OK, fair enough, got it wrong there", you've said I should've used the word "observation" rather than "narrative".

Thats nothing to do with Burkes reaction. He just turned round walked off towards the centre spot. Not a smile, not a fist pump or any joyous acknowledgement. Same thing when he scored.
Moose did exactly the same thing when he 'scored'..

I've been avoiding the boards in recent weeks (months) as I don't want to stew in the misery. Have I missed something re: Fleck and Sharp / Old Guard and some off the field conversations / drama? I did pick up on something a couple of weeks back about Spouses sounding off again on Socials?
I’d not heard anything also, I was just picking up on comments from other posters that there may be some discord in the changing room. Hope not as unity was one of our major strengths last season.

We have all the makings of a discontented dressing room when you think of what the wage demands of some of the new players will be in comparison to what the lads that got us here will be on,
Especially with the attitude of players like Mousset who defiantly has a hell of a lot more money and talent than sense....... :tumbleweed:

That’s his level
I disagree. Think he’ll be a good championship player, West Brom used him mainly as a winger I think he’ll suit our system next year. With a few goals and confidence if we manage to regain promotion he has the attributes to do well in the Prem but he’s raw and needs to regain confidence

Thought he put another great shift in - an under rated footballer, he did some lovely link play too and was unlucky to be hooked as early as he was.

It was a great first touch that put him in on goal, shame their lad got back with an incredible last ditch challenge, was intrigued to see whether or not he could stick that one away.

Himself & McGoldrick showed some good signs as a pair. Although Brewster had a good cameo, I hope Wilder realises that in our next two games (where we're unlikely to have much ball) Burke is the right man for the job.

He got hooked because they parked the bus. We couldn’t use his pace to run in behind. It worked until they decided to come out to play after the penalty.

Agree with all that apart from the last ditch challenge. You could see that slide coming from 10 yards away and so did Burke. It was a really poor decision to still shoot. He could have very easily chopped on to his left foot or played for a penalty. That's what stops him being a top top player, he hasn't got a clue when he gets in the dangerous positions.

Brilliant touch from Burke as you say, but the two highlights of the game for me (aside from the goal obviously) were the tackle on Burke to deny him, and osbornes sliding block in the first half.

Think it was a situational sub with Newcastle sitting deep and not giving him space to be effective. I don’t think it was a reflection of his performance because like you I thought he picked up where he left off from last s game and looked good.

Yeah, understood the decision and wasn't surprised by it as Wilder tends to think pace isn't required against teams that sit deep. I don't totally agree with the logic.

This lad is going to have some big games in the next 6, I feel that his pace is going to be crucial for us, come out of the next 6 with between 5-7 points and I’ll start to believe!

When he was at Celtic under Rodgers he improved, Rodgers left and he then just fell away. There is a player in there and with a bit of time, coaching and patience we will have a great player. Yes I know, this season we have not enough of any of those 3 things.
Took his goal well today, that's the ball we need to be putting him onto.
Let's hope today is the turning point for the season.
Tin hat donned!
Well done lad, well done indeed...😁

Weird performance tonight. I know we should just be celebrating the win, but Burke just looked off. I’m totally used to the poor ball control when he’s flying at defenders, but that chance when Fleck slid him through, he just seemed to totally half arse it. I wasn’t surprised at all that McBurnie replaced him. He’s better defensively but Burke was playing poorly. He remains a good bench option, but hopefully his head’s still right.

Wilder on the Burke sub

“I’m not too interested in feelings getting hurt, I’m interested in winning matches for Sheffield Utd”

He repeated that in at least a couple of interviews. Seems so unnecessary. Could have just said,

“At that point in the game, I needed more defensive solidity, so I brought mcburnie on”

Disagree. Burke was a liability and brought us down to nine men effectively. Brave call from wilder and agree with his comments.
