Oliver Burke

Have him on finishing duty all week imo.

He’s certainly a threat! With the raw attributes to be a player - he’s looks a lot more threatening than Robinson ever did for example.
Robinson is a technician who strikes a lovely football but gets bullied out of prem games. Burke has an elite attribute that makes him a nightmare.

like mentioned before, Burke reminds me of Adama Traore before he was moulded into a premier league player he is now. His problem was the final pass Burke’s seems to be finishing what he creates. If he improves his finishing he would be lethal and then sold. 😂😭

Yet again we looked far more dangerous going forward with Burke on the pitch. We actually possess a threat when he plays. He looks far, far better than Mousett, who again put in a fairly lacklustre performance.
Burke and McGoldrick deserve to be our strike partnership at the moment, maybe with McGoldrick playing behind with McBurnie or Brewster alongside Burke.

I’m not 100% sure he’ll ever “get it”. He’s been through a proper academy system, played football every day for most of his adult life and spent a good while playing up front. He’s not a bricky who’s been converted and is finding his feet. All that said, his physicality makes him such a threat and gets him in some seriously good positions. He has to continue starting for me. When we hasn’t recently, we’ve missed him.

Burke is pretty much exactly what I expected when we signed him.

Adama Traore of a few years back, as has been mentioned, is a great comparison so so quick, yet so raw. He's also only 23.

One minute it's evident why he commanded a £15m fee, the next it's not a surprise WBA wanted shut of him!

In the right team, the right system, with the right coaching etc theres a monster of a player in there.

We should get fully behind this lad for the rest of the season and allow him to find his feet at the top of the pitch as he could be a huge asset to us next season.

He's been our most dangerous forward in nearly all of the games he's played in and has a knack for creating big opportunities (and goals) through his bullish attributes.

If fans focused purely on his career at United so far and ignored the noise from outside (WBA, Scotland etc.) then I think we'd all have a really different perspective on Burke.

He cost us the equivalent of about £3m, he's 23 years old, has the best work rate of anybody in our squad (he's at least in the top 3), has pace & power and makes things happen singlehandedly.
If we'd signed him this season from abroad and knew nothing else about him I think we'd be raving that we had a really good asset on our hands with bags of potential.

What he lacks; composure, movement - can be taught or learnt through experience.

What he has; pace, power, attitude - money can't buy & is really difficult to find.

I've been wrong before, but when all the bits and pieces click into place I can see him being a very good striker & I hope that happens whilst he's with us.

All he needs is good service on the floor through the middle (like his goal today) Only problem is we are struggling for someone at Premiership level to provide the slide rule pass from midfield.

UTB !
i think he will get us 15 goals plus in the championship hes going to be a big asset for us playing at a lower level

He is not a natural finisher and the end bit needs lots of work but he has offered more than Robinson already and feel he will still go on and have a better career. Robinson will be a Champ player at best most of his career. This lad could go any way. Could end up non league or Premier League! I have no idea but he's more of a chance of making it top level than Robinson.

I was his biggest critic but he is starting to improve , he would have struggled to get a place last year but he got a lot of ball today and used it well the fact he can't hit a barn door with a banjo is holding him back but all that can change with a bit of confidence would prosper in the Championship .

Love Burke, great athlete and only 23.
Causes havoc every time he plays.

Yes he needs to improve his finishing, but I’d have him on the pitch stretching it and giving us an outlet every time. For me his chance creation is also excellent, he has huge quality on the ball.

When we’ve played without pace this season the opposition know they can push everyone forward as they know we can’t hurt them. Moan all you like about finishing but his pace and quality is the reason we’ve created the chance in the first place.

I think he could well develop into an excellent feeder for a goal scorer in the Brian Dean mould ?,
But at the moment he could well be playing in an old pair of McGoldrick's boots or maybe just trying too hard.
Even so his pace is dynamite and unlike Mousset he is at least a team player and not just pinching money ...... 🤞 .

I was expecting him to kick it into row Z. Really pleased for him. I think it’s just what he needed. Hopefully he’ll have the confidence now. I think he has the makings of a great player. The difference between being great and mediocre is all in the head. Lots of people have the talent but few have what it takes to make the step up.

I think the comments on here are mostly spot on about Burke. Awesome pace that frightens defenders and such a great physique that he doesn’t get bullied off the ball. Be fantastic if he could finish more often but maybe that will come with more games played. I would start him every time if fit, gives us a great outlet when under pressure.

If he scores from every 4 chances like today then I am happy.

There is a top striker in there somewhere if (big IF) he can sort out his finishing. Took his goal nicely today, and was unlucky when he hit the post, but also had that horrendous slice.

His pace and power will scare defenders at any level. Their defence today were just left in his wake. Get him on shooting practice all day every day and see if he can sort it out. If he can he will wreak havoc in the champ next season (assuming we do go down).
