For me I wud boot out cheap as chips an bring back Billy!

What do yer think ?

Mi speelin might not be up ter scratch cause I"km postin this from mi blackbeery.... So please excuse....ta

Unfortunately BB, it's not that black and white.

For KB to get the sack it would mean we would have to take a turn for the worst which, as a Blade, I cannot wish for.

The only circumstances in which I can see Billy coming back, is at the end of the season having not made the play-offs and Kev getting the boot. Getting back a proven Championship striker with a ratio of better than 1 in 2, would certainly soften the blow of not reaching the play-offs, but the point still stands, I'd rather we reached the play-offs.

Although I echo that last sentiment we wont win the playoffs if we get into them. We never do. I am not at all your negative type of fan but I can tell you now, we can get into those playoffs as many times as you like and we will NOT win them.....

We are in the nearly club with Preston and Leeds. No matter how consistently we perform in terms of a top 6 finish we will not win that tournament at the end. Its not in our make up to win the playoffs - curse, inability to hold our nerve, blame it on what you like.

We have to go up automatically or we won't go up at all. But hey, at least its a fun ride until the final:thumbup:

I think the attitude of 'we can't and won't do it' is precisely the reason why we're a nearly club.

We do always muck it up, and we are a nearly club, but every club is a nearly club until the point where they actually do it.

Sure, we haven't done it so far, but i don't see that as a reason to abandon all hope for the future.

But then again maybe i haven't been a Blade as long as some people on here!

I agree with you in that sense Tom, the negative vibe generated by the fans doesnt help. I know I have a bleak outlook on getting into the playoffs but at the start of every season I always think we can finish in the top two with a bit of hard work. I just dread finishing 3rd-6th because I know we will blow it. We're not a lucky team and never will be and you need buckets of that stuff to win the playoffs.

As for your last point. Ive only been a Blade for 20 odd years (since childhood) so don't feel bad. We're not all old enough to remember the days of Trevor Hockey and Jimmy Hagan! :)

As someone who went to the Palace and Wolves playoff finals i feel your pain! I've only been a Blade for about 15 years or so so thankfully i wasn't there for the likes of Don Givens...

I was convinced i was a curse until i didnt go to the Burnley game and we turned in possibly one of the worst performances i've ever seen.

My solution to winning the playoffs is simple. No Blades fan should turn up at any of the games, and therefore keep all their bad luck curses at home, thus ensuring promotion :p

Again I agree with all of the above - im being optimistic like you believing its a curse.

I sadly went to the cup semi final which shall not be mentioned, the Palace playoff final; the Wolves playoff final; the Burnley playoff final; the Sunderland semi final second leg; the cup semi final against Newcastle; the cup semi final against Arsenal and the Liverpool LC semi final second leg............

I know im rambling on but please forgive my negative outlook on tournament football - Ive seen United lose on big occasions so many times that I have started to yawn at the prospect of latter stage knockout football involving our club - because I know what's coming.

We usually either bottle it or lady luck doesnt back us up. I love the club dearly but I know we cant go all the way in tournament football - its just written into our folklore. That's us though - UP THE BLADES!

Completely agree that we wont go up in the playoffs, well as long as I go to watch that is. I do think we'll make it though.

Back to the original point about Billy. I think if Blackwell goes and we ended up getting someone whos tactics made Billy shine, then those same tactics would make Chedwyn look even better than Billy and Id rather keep him instead. I dont think we'll ever see Billy Sharp banging them in for the Blades.

To be fair, look at how many play-off tournaments have we been in. Basically, we've got a 1-in-4 chance of going up.

Next time Gadget, next time!! :D:D

We've been in 5 and not won any of them. The law of averages laughs in our faces.

I am also of the view that United will never win a playoff tournament. Just not something we do.

Excuses, excuses.... Your spelling was always rubbish BB.

Winning that Playoff is not so much to do with the fans (they always worry that they will lose )as with having a strong confident manager and a team that believes on the day that it will win no matter what it has thrown at it.

Wait until the summer, if we haven't been promoted then Blackie's times up and we can recall Billy if the new manager wishes.
