DW Quotes from the Official Web site .......

"Following Nick Blackman's departure, we will certainly be able to bring in one or two players on-loan or short term contracts.

"Getting players through the door in the timescale we have is very annoying because your targets can soon go elsewhere.

"When a player leaves as late as Nick has in the window it proves very difficult to bring in replacements, but we will continue to search."

"We remain hopeful of realistically bringing in one or two players before Friday's game.
"Any goalscorer is difficult to replace and that is why they go for the money they do because they are at a premium.

"When you get one in and nurture him like we did with Nick, you always have one eye over your shoulder because someone will always be in a position to make a bid.

"It perhaps isn't the right time to bring a player in that needs nurturing, we need some experience but again those players are at a premium.

"It is going to be nip and tuck whether we can get the right person signed in time for the Coventry game.

What about the couple of players Mccabe said we could get even if Blackman didn't move, one would have thought after that statement, we would have had a week to sort out who we could get... now it is all last minute. I really hope McCabe wasn't talking about the two trialists when said a couple of players..... got a strange feeling we may have had the wool pulled over our eyes yet again.

It was just a better presented version of the Beattie era interview. Surely no one actually believed a word of it?? We were told money was available irrespective of NB leaving then Wilson comes out and tells us how it is on the last day of the window. Absolutely pathetic and makes a mockery of the year in year out mantras we hear in the JTW.

Ahhh the first official signs that we will not be bringing anyone in .............................

We tried for a few but..........................
Loan window opens in a week ......................

I feel sorry for Wilson having to do McCabes dirty work.

How can people be surprised by the same thing every year?

I'm not sure, but I am firmly clinging on to the fact that

a) there's still 6 hours to go
b) the loan window is still an option
and/or/likely
c) the club are going to surprise us all by signing loads of PL players :)

It's a new low this one thoughWalthy. We've cashed in £1.2M 5 months early and (with no significant signings ) written off our promotion hopes. That's for about £30K in interest. Fuck me.

Previous capitulations have been to fill the financial black hole created by McCabe's other fuck ups. Surely FFP dictates this one is for no other reason than McCabe clawing his losses back?

That's ok then, I'm off back to bed, Charlize Theron is waiting for me.

I just think this year, with the state of the team we have at the moment, there is going to be a major backlash if we don't bring player(s) in. I don't want young Leeds players, we may as well use our own, but this year to me it is a lot more disappointing than the last few years. Just got a feeling that there will be a backlash on Friday, and the team will get no support, as all the venom will be direct against McCabe.

With the venom aimed at McCabe,i think the crowd may get behind the team as they are not to blame.

Hopefully. Let's hope it starts here. Perhaps the venom will lift the crowd to support what's left on the field. The atmosphere can't get any worse than it has been of late.

Hang on why didn't we do that.

A couple of PL clubs this month have bought players and loaned them back til the end of the season. Surely that could have been possible with Blackman? As I just don't see him walking straight into the Reading team with ALF in form.

And fans fall for it year after year

We'd have to continue to pay his wages. Given the incredibly short sighted decision to cash in a few months early, why not just be completely short sighted.

McCabe has achieved something, he has turned me from a clapper into an angry cynic. We hear the same bullshit year in year out and the team continues to slide down the league. When you look at the talent we have let go and consider the club we were a short while ago, playing in big games and viewed with respect, it makes you want to weep looking at us now.

McCabe knew full feckin well when he did his interview that Blackman was going, and the decision shows exactly how much ambition this club has......NONE. You don't sell your top scorer if you want to get promoted.

There won't be any last minute signings, if they were known about last Saturday, they would have been done and dusted by now.

In previous transfer windows, our sales have been disappointing, but understandable - unsustainable wages (Beatie, Squinn), great fee (Slew), but there was no reason whatsoever to sell Blackman, the Chairman said so himself but four days ago. The fact that we've sold him without replacements guaranteed is absolutely criminal.
