How would people feel if this deal meant we kept Slew?

Money saved plus youngster retained.

If it means Slew stays then it is all good but Id still not be surprised if Slew isn't at the lane come the end of August.

Henderson good riddance to an overpaid pile of crap who I have always said we should never of signed to begin with. He is a dirty player that will be perfect for Millwall and will hopefully get them more red cards than goals.

Well, Big Darius. If you ever want to spend some of your not-so-hard-earned cash on English lessons, just tweet.

Just hope we sign a couple of wingers and somebody who will head a ball with the cash saved!

Or that DW has a better plan for scoring goals than Boggy winning a penalty every other game!?

Good news. Just Evans and a few other vastly overpaid no marks to go, and we can start to build again for the fist time in bout 5 years.

Seriously think getting rid of Hendo will make any difference to McCabe's need/desire to raise cash and millions of it if at all possible?

People need to get used to the reality. For whatever reason we have a financial black hole of tens of millions. We've been chucking millions into it for years and it aint made any difference, it just wants more.

Saving Hendo's wage will make no difference re Slew, it's a drop in the ocean. If Slew stays it will be because either he decides he doesn't want to go or because we can't get a decent enough offer yet and we hope we can sign him on a deal and sell him for more in January or at the end of the season.

The days when we could make decisions based on footballing priorities instead of financial ones are long gone.

I agree with a lot of what you say - but wht has gone has gone. There's a good chance McCabe knows he'll never get it back. I think that is different to what is being pissed down the toilet on a daily basis. Until we halt this we will not start to move forward. Henderson is one of a long line of players who are paid vastly above their worth. When we've culled them we will sand a far stronger chance of building, be that keeping slew or attracting hungry young players.

Quinn, Monty, Evans, Cresswell etc etc. Get rid of the lot unless they accept HUGE pay cuts.

I am amazed Hendo passed a medical - remember he was off to QPR last year till he failed his medical. I think he has found his spiritual home at Millwall and his goal scoring record is hardly a match for Morrison who he is replacing.
As for Slew the guy on blades mad who is usually right and foretold this transfer says Slew out by the end of the week. Its the Blades way.....

No problem with him leaving. We needed shut and he wanted to go. Frees up a salary, now we need to offload Chedders Plays Pop and a couple of other no marks and we can get people in. Well I say get people in but my guess is Big Kev pulls up the drawerbridge and leaves DW dangling, the fans wade in because of his ex pig roots and McCabe looks all Teflon again.

Not sad to see Hendo leave, was never prolific as a forward. However I will always remember him for sending us all delirious at Bristol scoring the winner in injury time after we'd just thrown a 2-0 lead away. What a way to win a game- :easy:

If Hendo has taken a pay cut, I suspect much of the transfer money will have been redirected into his pocket in the form of a signing-on fee.

Deal sweetener for the player, subsidised by United who desperately need the bloke off the pay roll.

Not true, we aren't a penny out of pocket on the deal. It wasn't a free transfer, that's directly from Dave Mac.

Undisclosed....

I think its only fair for United to give a rough indication of if it was free, under £100k, under £250k etc. for the fans.

After all, its us that keeps the club running.

You misunderstand. I'm suggesting that the fee is lower than the player's notional value because of his wage requirements. If he was a low paid player and Millwall were matching his wages, we could have expected a higher fee.

As it is, we accept a lower fee in order to enable the deal, and I'm speculating that much of the cost involved in the transfer is Millwall paying the player a signing-on fee, rather than paying us a transfer fee.

I sincerely doubt Hendo wouldn't really halve his wages purely for the sake of playing for Millwall FC. I think his signing on fee will have enabled the deal to be done.

We (the fans) are only part of the Club's income. What about sponsorship deals, TV money, catering, etc. ... and of course the sale of players?

I would happily show my arse in the leppings lane if Hendo has taken such a pay cut in real terms.

Dave Mac confirmed that the club hasn't paid anything to let him go, that good enough for me.

On the first point, so would I. I just think a signing-on fee would have been used to offset the lower wages.

On the second point - I never said we were paying to get shut of him, just accepting a lower fee in a deal which incentivises the player to move.

Who is Dave Mac btw?

All the best Hendo, I will always remeber being stood behind the goal a the Madjeski going bonkers when you headed in the winner after coming from 2 down.I thought we can do it! we can definetley do it!!!! We can stay up!

We didnt.

True but if there were no fans attending games, companies would not want to sponsor us, the tv wouldnt cover our games as they would have no audience, catering wouldnt be required and as a result of all this we would not be able to trade in the commodity of players.

The fans are everything.

Exactly.

No fans = No club.

It means no more £15k a week wages for the Darius Henderson's of this world.

if only every Football league club would take that stance, there would be less greed and maybe a little more of the old values brought back to the sport....like loyalty!!!

Football needs to take a step back and look at what it has become. It's no longer a working class sport, but is heading towards elitist. Everyone involved is way overpaid, greed is promiant and the gulf between players and suporters is ever increasing. The "top 6" are getting richer and richer and there will soon be very little chance of anyone else winning the Premiership. How boring!!!

How I would love a Bolton/Wigan/Newcastle type club to excell and defeat the "money" clubs.

Although Lord Sugar pointed that out in his show a few a months ago and Scudamore like the c**t he is still feels there is nothing wrong financially with football. I agree with Lord Sugar a few big clubs need to go bust before the the PL and the footballing world sit up and take notice.

The prem are the tail that wags the dog

Their greed in sucking up all the tv money is sickening, and has soured the game and created massive gulfs that will take decades to repair.
Its also creating a new breed of footballer, those on decent wages15-20 k having to suck up a 50% or more drop in wages to get an income
When enough have suffered this itll hopefully get the bulk of players to rebel , a few clubs paying unsustainable wages cant carry on

As if the Sheffield press couldn't get any crapper, this went up at lunchtime:

Sheffield United are ready to let Darius Henderson join Millwall in an attempt to kick-start a signing flurry by new boss Danny Wilson.

Henderson is the subject of the first serious move for any of United’s top earners with Millwall poised to follow up an enquiry for the striker.

It's one thing being last with the news. It's another thing to be last and completely out of date. Amazingly, it's not even the work of James Shield.

At least when Sitters is name-dropping we've actually heard of them......
