I had forgotten how many different shirt numbers he had for England:

11, 7(7times), 6(2), 12, 4(2), 13, 10(2) and 8.

there has been many young players given there debut on the wing it is a way of introducing them to first team football.
not saying its the right way or not but has been done often and many a star been born this way.
