I think this deserves its own thread as im sure many of you will disagree. Personally, i think Nosworthy is one of the worst defenders we have had in a long time. Every time he got the ball at boro he was too slow and lost the ball. He has no pace so he cant play full-back.

So he was then moved against preston and was again, too slow on the ball and nearly cost us a goal on one occasion. I think he is a major risk in the back 4 and is clearly the weakest of them. I actually found it quite amusing last year when we had nothing to play for when he joined, but at the start of a new season he terrifies me every game. I pray he won't be a permanent fixture in our back 4.

Watch the highlights of the Preston match on the BBC iplayer. There's a bit, just before the goal I seem to recall, where Noz takes the ball off their player, looks to play it out of defence, and immediately gives the ball away, letting their player get a cross in. It sums him up entirely.

He really scares me. He does something really good and then thinks about his next move for way too long.

Form an orderly queue to tap that one home.

He reminds me of Claude Davis.

Awe-inspiring and completely inept in the same passage of play, only he doesn't wield razor blades at his colleagues.

feet like the back face of a cricket bat.wouldve been interesting to see if speedo would have signed him.crap

I think hes class, were you guys watching a different game to me on saturday? he might look like hes going to cost us goals but I cant think of any that he has. Id have Nossy in the team over Bartley any day.

He only didn't cost us a goal on Saturday because Simonsen bailed him out, he can't take any of the credit for that!

But Ted, you think Monty is class, that's where your arguement falls down !!!
Nosworthy like Monty are a liability to any defensive network, give the ball away frequently and commit stupid fouls in dangerous areas.
And by the way Ted it must be you that's watching a different game!

It is worse for Noz, considering he is a centre back and therefore our last line of defence. At least when monty loses the ball he has a bit of time and space to recover the ball, but like on saturday, when nozza f*cks up there is no recovering. He is god awful.

No recovering? so what was their goal like then?

Yep I do think Monty is good too, although he hasnt hit form yet this season. Noss may make mistakes due to his little bits of flair but Bartley will make mistakes due to his lack of experience. I find Nossy really entertaining and think hes often the one looking to pass it out of defense which it seems is our new game plan, every center back is going to make mistakes at some point, look at Morgan against Boro for instance.

Flair? lol

Idiocy, clumsiness, recklessness... I don't think it's flair, to be honest :D

when he makes a mistake he has to rely on OTHER team members to bail him out and fortunately Simmo made a good save, but that won't happen every time. However quite regularly monty can lose the ball but have the time and tenacity to get it back, if nozza loses it they are gifted a goal scoring oppertunity. Bartley is the captain of Arsenals reserves so clearly he is no mug and wenger sees a future in him. He is being loaned out to improve whereas nozz is simply loaned out because he isnt good enough for sunderland!!!

im fed up with this vendetta against monty. No, hes not the greatest footballer. No, he cant pick out a fifty yard pass to feet perfectly. No he cant beat three men and stick it in the top corner. But lets face it (bearing in mind im not his biggest fan) there must be a reason why this guy has played consistently at championship level or higher for roughly 10 years and i can guarantee its not because 'he loses the ball every time he gets it'. As SV said, far from it.

Monty is shit, because people who aren't involved in professional football in any capacity say so. They know more than the football professionals.

Unless of course Micalijo is really Jose Mourinho. Which he isn't.

And I'm fed up with this utter bollocks that Monty is a footballer, never has been never will be!
100% trier yes, 100% effort yes Footballer - No Way
He epitomises Sheffield United - Runs his blood to water but has little or no footballing skill
The reason he's played so many games for the Blades coincides with Warnock and Blackwell in charge
Warnock had no money to spend plays Monty Gets money Drops Monty No Money Plays Monty
I don't see many clubs clamouring for his services
Monty has achieved a very good living from being a very average player and good luck to him but don't keep singing his praises he's not that good!

Lets hang on a minute. Im not sure if these posts are directed at me but i think you misinterpreted my post. I do not rate monty in any way, i feel he is somewhat of a liability and arguably (almost definately) we would be a better team without him. All im saying is, he has played under several managers who have all had him as a permanent fixture. That cant be a fluke.
