Don't forget we've seen the home gate go up by 4-5k in the last two games. They may be bandwagon jumpers now, but they could be season ticket holders come the summer.

And I don't care if they're lapsed supporters from years gone by, defecting pigs, students new to the city or complete one-offs like JonnyRed(WCFC), all welcome at the Lane* and once a Blade...

*don't worry about away tickets, the latecomers won't have the loyalty points. It's the regular season ticket holders who rarely do away games suddenly eyeing up a trip to MK like me you should be worried about ;)

Ssssh, don't tell anyone, but I'm one of those too. I used to go everyhwere in the 80s and 90s but much less so these days. The ear trumpet and bathchair just aren't up to it any more.

When you still have 12 games left before you (hopefully) achieve success, you can't really call new attendees 'plastic fans'
That should be reserved for those who only go to the occasional high-prestige games such as semis and finals

I would never question the motivations of those who have come from far and wide to follow us. It's hardly as if they've done so on the shallow promise of success. It's a labour of love.
I always meet non-native Blades and I respect them even more if anything. They chose this life after all.
Whichever corner of the globe you hail from, welcome.

'A complete one-off' ... I like that description, can handle that

Not so sure about the defecating pigs though! ;)

Lovely to hear that you are in a welcoming inclusive mood. I've got a couple of mates who'd like to come along, so maybe you could help in some way or buy them a beer or something?

One is a poor lad who has fallen on hard times. He had a drink spiked a couple of years back and then got fitted up twice by Trevor Brooking on recreational drugs charges. He's a little bit over weight and his accent isn't the easiest to understand.

My other pal is a bit of a lad about town, but got flu on Saturday so couldn't stay with his mates and had to get a taxi home...

Sigh.

My old familiar vengeful hatred is back. Thanks a bunch

As long as they are Blades then who gives a shit when they started watching us? With regards to jumping on the bandwagon maybe some are fans who drifted away, maybe some are new Blades like JonnyRed(WCFC) so what does it matter. They are Blades. That's all that matters. Maybe they haven't got the years under their belts, or the away trips, but they are Blades just the same.

It wasn't aimed at you Jonny, it was just an unfortunate turn of phrase. What has happened is that after years of being shite we have lucked into getting a top manager who has transformed the place, the attitude and the team, and as you can tell we are all loving it. The buzz is spreading and drawing people in but we now have the dilemma that it challenges our traditional view of ourselves as curmudgeonly diehards who only go to see who can suffer the most for longest...this has been the traditional way to become the bigger blade of legend, passed down from father to son for generations. The only thing we usually like than to see the Blades do badly is to see Wednesday do worse than us. Now all this has changed and there is real light at the end of the tunnel, Wilder can take us all the way now and we are having to come to terms with it and we are feeling our way. What I mean is welcome to the family!

Thats the way (aha aha) I like it :D

Well I had a good glimpse into what things were like last season, probably reaching the lowest ebb you'd been in a good while and then onto this seasons transformation, and ive got a good feel from these last two games that the vast majority of Blades fans have kept their feet on the ground and almost collectively holding their breath (still in more hope than expectation) because of dear old madame fate lurking round the corner with something more doom ridden than Fraser from Dads Army can shake his rusty old bayonet at!

Its the Blades way and I like it....it feels what I bought into when my dad first took me to watching Worcester games, theres nothing glorious or egotistical pretentions going on or a we have a divine right to be winning every game and playing at the highest level etc etc. Thats for the other lot up the road!

Southern softy. Lager top for him. Cooking lager too.

Proof that i'm a northerner...

If it's all the same to you, I personally shall remain a curmudgeonly die-hard.
But I am cutting back on the suffering - although probably only temporarily
