For wanting us to win our next game so we feel reassured about promotion? I’m sure any neutral looking at our position thinks we’re up but as a fan you never feel that way until it’s concrete.

Congratulations on the kittens though.
Might be wrong but think he was referring to people saying Bristol rather than Bristol City. It’s a bit Sheffield rather than United or Wednesday

Think it's pretty obvious if you read the post properly that's NOT what he's talking about

Fair play to Luton, people have underestimated them but they're in great form and pushing us. Even though they are the closest team to us, there isn't any talk amongst their fans about the prospect of automatic promotion.

Some Boro fans, however, believe they can still finish Top 2!

And even if they don't, if Carrick had been in charge since the beginning of the season they'd 'be 2nd behind Burnley'. This is ignores the fact that since Carrick took charge we've pick up two more points than them (and from one less game).

Lots of Boro fans saying this is the best football their team's played in 30 years - and it's lifted them to the lofty heights of 4th in the Championship.

How shit must they have been for the last 30 years???

Beat Bristol on Tuesday and the lead is 8 points with 4 games / 12 points to play for, plus we have an 11 goal better GD than Luton (which will increase if we beat Bristol Titty) so in reality a 9 point lead.
It's not a 9 point lead in reality, it's an 8 point lead with a better goal difference if we are 8 points clear with a better GD and we get 0 points and they get 9 I will bet you they are above us in the table , as points always beats goal difference

Luton have been tremendous.

All this love in with Carrick and Kompany and Robins - yet the Luton manager hardly gets a mention .

If they sun go up in the autos - and they are and will keep pushing us till the end - I hope they win the playoffs

Great effort

Probably because its like watching grass grow

It’s been weird this season. We were 7th on Boxing Day when Wilders team got promoted and it felt as though the gods were with us and there was a swagger. This season we’ve ground out so many wins particularly away from home that we’ve never really felt we’ve played well enough to be in our position but here we are, on the brink and more comfortably than anyone could imagine. Feels slightly unreal that this team is about to be promoted. Whisper it very quietly.

Only seen us waltz through a league a couple of times in my lifetime, particularly the Championship. Usually it’s hard fought, attritional stuff at times. We’ve been masters at that, particularly with injury crisis after injury crisis. It really has been exemplary resilience and mental toughness from the squad, and from PH.

Re: goal difference. At the risk of being the ghost at the feast, one thing people seem to forget is that if the points gap narrows so inevitably does the goal difference. If we lose, at least one comes off our GD, and if any of the chasing pack wins, they gain at least one. So for each time they pick up points, our GD against them drops by a minimum of two.
True, but we are +11 goal difference on 2nd, so that seems quite a big gap!

True

But I think we will be applying the above terminology for a few games yet

Not if we draw !

Agree

But they are effective and considering their resources the manager has done a great job
if we go up 2nd i hope they go up via play offs:

1. Because this stops the media love fest for carrick who goes to west ham
2. More chance of us finishing above luton in PL than boro
