The Premier League is really expensive. Forest have spent £600m to earn just under a point a game for 2 seasons. Having a 20 team league that only a handful of teams can afford to compete in without being backed by countries is a little bit tiresome

600 million it’s not 600 million what’s that include ?
it’s 250 million ish
But as it’s Forest yeh 600 million

Why does nobody seems to get that the big 6 aren’t fucking off anywhere? The super league was just a champions league replacement.

More chance of us actually trying to compete next time we’re promoted than the Super 6 disappearing elsewhere. Surely we ought to wish for that instead?

Who are the big 6 tho…….and who decides who they are?
the ones with billion pound squads and get more income from shop sales tham other clubs get in gate revenue

Yearly value of shirt sponsor deals in the Premier League 2022-2023, by club. Manchester City had the most valuable shirt sponsorship deal in the Premier League in the 2022/23 season, earning 67.5 million British pounds a year through their agreement with Etihad.

and thats just one stream of income

Who has the most kit sales in the Premier League?
Liverpool (Nike) - €132m

Nudging ahead of United by a slim margin, Liverpool are currently the Premier League's top earners in terms of their shirt sales and merchandise income despite having seen their overall kit revenue fall around 3.5 percent from €137m in 2022.

my heart bleeds for Liverpool kit sales falling by 4,5 m , we should start a crowd funding appeal to help them out

we dont quite reach 4.5m in kit sales

rumours on Spanish tv chat ( la liga tv ) that we are 15 months from the European Super League , they dont seem overly bothered if prem teams join it or not , but cant see man city arsenal Liverpool and Chelsea maybe man utd wanting to be left outside, while italy german french and possibly 2 portuguese

real barca atletico , hold all the aces , they already have seperate massive tv deals than the other rif raf in la liga

they are initially looking at an 18 club league and an internal super cup

it will move a pace now as smaller clubs are demanding a wage cap which will really upset the supèr rich players
This won’t happen

When a team scored 5 it wasn’t an every week occurrence yes there’s been five six’s and sevens and I recall a nine. But these were few and far between and made headlines.
That’s changed in the Premier there are many high scoring defeats but this is mainly in the premier league . The top teams through excessive money are so far ahead it’s no longer a level playing field, money has created this the premier league is ruined. Question is will it ever become a level playing field again IMHO when the big greedy six go
Last time we conceded 5 goals outside the top flight was November 2017, nearly 7 years ago. It ended Sheff Utd 4-5 Fulham

Before that it was 5-2 in September 2014 at Swindon, then the 5-5 play off game, again at Swindon in May 2015.

I can't remember conceding 6 in a League game in my lifetime until this season

Man C away - 2001??? Or maybe 2000...

I read somewhere of the idea of a 13 club Premier League playing each other 3 times a season, home away and a neutral venue (maybe abroad). Below this 4 leagues of 20 clubs. The 13 are chosen by where they finish in the current Premier League but clubs do not have to join if they don't want to. One club relegated from the top League and one club promoted but again only if they want to be promoted. Promotion and relegation from the other Leagues as it is now.The sticking point would be money But if you took the domestic TV money and distributed it throughout what would be 5 divisions as pure prize money on a known sliding scale. Clubs would have a guaranteed minimum prize 9 the amount for finishing bottom in their division) but could gain more by being successful on the field.
Now don't get me wrong the 13 club Premier league would be shit for probably half of the teams. But the Leagues below that would be fantastic.

That might be your opinion but the facts show it's far from ruined.
In fact it's never been as popular in the UK and especially around the world.
Several clubs have raised prices but still have massive waiting lists for season tickets.
Arsenal's season tickets are £1000 but they still have a ST waiting list of over 35,000 and that's even when charging £50 adults and £25 children just to be on that list. The PL revenue/ value is more than the double the nearest league (La Liga) and the gap is widening.

Then greedy big 6 aren't going anywhere anytime soon because the money is in the Premier League, it's become the Euro super league.
Hence why the other big Euro clubs, Real, Barca, Juventus, Milan are desperate to form their own Euro league to challenge the might of the EPL.
The new Euro expanded format, will probably result in the PL being reduced from 20 to 18 teams, in line with some of the other top leagues.
FA cup replays have been dropped and PL in Europe may pull out of the EFL cup to help relieve their fixture congestion.

If you think the gap is big now, wait until parachute payments are dropped (if it ever happens).
It would result in any payers with ambition refusing to join the promoted teams because very few will accept a massive pay reduction on relegation.

The Premier League is going to hell in a handcart.

It's hard not to be envious of what, in comparison, German fans have with the Bundesliga.

The biggest average crowds in Europe, low ticket prices and the 50+1 model which ensures the fans of each club have the biggest stake on their club and that their clubs can't be controlled/ruined by nation states and nefarious billionaires.

There will be five Bundesliga teams in next season's Champions League, so the model clearly works.

English football doesn't need the "Big 6" to leave and form a super league, it needs a salary cap and finances restructuring to ensure that clubs are not spending what they don't have. It needs to move to a similar system to American Sports as it levels the fields and keeps the sports interesting, competitive and relatively equal.

Yes, that would mean a lot of wages ans transfer fees dropping, but boohoo if you only earn £20k per week instead of £100k. If you can't live with that then **** off you greedy b*****d!

It happened after the ITV Digital collapse when wages and transfer fees plummeted, then Roman Abramovich came along and destroyed English football forever.

Who are the "Big 6" anyway? Are Newcastle and Villa part of the club now or are they not considered one of them in place of the under performing Man Utd and huge spending to mediocrity Chelsea? Who decides who the "Big 6" are?

I bet that's the only time, surely?

21st August 1999.

6-0

I remember being a young 7 year old at Ayresome Park getting whacked 6-0 in the early Bassett Days. Not long before or after i was at Leeds when they stuffed us by 5! Dont really recall any others...Stockport in Cup scored 5 at lane but we score i think, Oldham scored 5 at the lane that ended Billy McEwan's reign??

And in a League that you can't even celebrate a goal.....Every bubble eventually bursts

I was at that game with 2 mates. I think we were 4-0 down at HT. We left at HT and almost wished we hadnt because as we were about 200yds away from Ayresome Park there were about 10 Boro boys sat on a wall, we did a swift about turn back to the ground and went to the car another way!
